Alockdown engagement. One sunny morning the pair drove to Brighton for a walk with their dog, Gatsby. Mark took Lynsey by surprise and popped the question. The answer was yes, and the pair got stuck into planning their big day!

Lynsey and Mark Mc Hugh married at Channels Estate on 1st September 2022 in a boho styled affair! Here, Lynsey tells us more about their day...

We loved that Channels had a beautiful garden ceremony area as well as a lovely barn for the wedding breakfast.

Channels also had Guinness on tap which was a must for Mark being from Ireland!

I picked a dress by Lovers Society called the Niko gown. I chose this style because it was quite boho with subtle lace design. I wore plain white sandal heels and decided not to wear a veil as I didn’t want to cover the lace detail on the back of the dress!

The groom wore a burgundy suit from Anthony Formal Wear, his navy tie matched the groomsmen’s suits.

The bridesmaids wore white multi style dresses from La Closet De Chanel, they were made to order and could be worn whichever way the girls felt most comfortable.

On the day we felt overwhelmed but it was so special. It’s such a lovely feeling having a day that’s just celebrating you as a couple.

Our dog Gatsby barked when they asked if anyone had any reason we should not be married during the ceremony, this made everyone laugh!

Harrison Events have the most lovely rustic decorations. The table plans were placed in pots with fresh gypsophila.

Our centrepieces were jars of fresh gypsophila with rustic wooden table numbers.

My bouquet, the bridesmaid’s bouquets and men’s flower pins were all dried flowers

We also ordered fresh flower hat boxes for our mums which were from Dilly’s Bespoke Florist in Maldon.

Our rustic themed cake was adorned with dried flowers but each layer was a different flavour.

Harrison Events decorated our ceremony area. They also placed dried flower arrangements around the venue.

We had a live band called the Penny Kings. They learnt our first dance song for us which was You’re My Best Friend by Queen.

We had giant wooden LOVE letters on the dancefloor and a wooden photo booth with props

We had a wedding breakfast followed by hog roast in the evening.

TOP TIP!

When planning, do what makes you both happy! It’s your day to enjoy. Take in every moment because it goes by too quickly.

What made our day extra special was having all of the people we love and care about in one place, we had family and friends come from Ireland, UK, Australia, Italy and Norway.
