I’m a big fan of Devon-based wedding venue Harefield Barn in Crediton so when the owner, Deborah got in touch with me with the real wedding of Carina and Matthew, I jumped at the chance to feature it. Their special day is shared on page 33.

NEW AMBITIONS FOR DRAKE’S ISLAND IN PLYMOUTH

Devon businessman and owner of Drake’s Island, Morgan Phillips, has purchased the six-acre fortress located off the coast of Plymouth. He is now planning for the future of the island, looking to build two hotels, a museum, and a well-being centre on it. Drake’s Island was named after Sir Francis Drake, who set sail from there in 1577 to circumnavigate the globe – and Mr Phillips says there are no plans to ever change the name of the island which is an integral part of the city’s history.
