I’veworked at County Wedding Magazines for almost seven years now, and I’ve always admired the gorgeous venues, weddings and talented suppliers in East Anglia, so I’m really excited to introduce myself as the new editor.

Time is flying by, and if you’re courting down the days until your wedding, don’t worry, it will be here before you know it! This is one of my favourite issues as I love seeing the new wedding dress collections be revealed. I got married last year and so I know how stressful finding your dream dress can be. I’m short, curvy and very self-conscious, so I was dreading trying on gowns. I had no idea of what style I wanted, a fishtail made me feel like I couldn’t sit down without bursting out of it and a ballgown swamped me, but luckily my bridal consultant suggested an A-line silhouette, which suited my figure. If you’re looking for your dress and feeling overwhelmed by the amount of choice available, make sure you listen to your consultant. They have years of experience and have helped brides of every shape and size find their dream gown, so they will know what looks good on you even if you don’t yourself.

Lastly, don’t panic if you don’t have that overwhelming this is the one feeling, as I didn’t myself, just trust your gut and go for something that makes you feel beautiful, comfortable and confident. For more inspiration, head over to our fashion pages, which are full of stunning on-trend styles, including ruffled tulle, satin layers, lace and subtle pleats.

Food For Thought

Norfolk’s Bayfield Catering has won ‘Caterer of the Year East’ and ‘Caterer of the Year Overall Winner (UK)’ at the English Wedding Awards 2023.

“Winning feels really strange, as it has taken a long time to get recognised,” says Emma Boubaker from Bayfield Catering. “There were so many people there, but when they called my name, it was amazing. We’re a small company, so it’s so nice to be recognised and appreciated as we work so hard.”

Emma is the only chef at the company and is supported by girls from her village who have been working together for the last decade.

Award Finalist

Cheryl’s Flowers in Sudbury is a finalist for the ‘Best Customer Service’ award by Guides for Brides.

“Being a florist is not just a service that I offer couples planning their wedding, it goes much deeper than that,” says owner Cheryl. “From the initial contact through to the big day, I help couples choose bouquets that complement their dresses and table designs. Together, we can choose seasonal flowers, as well as colours, tints, tones and shades that bring out the true beauty of flowers giving the wow factor they deserve to help create a memorable day!”

AWARD-WINNING RELAXATION

Suffolk-based wedding venue Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa has won ‘Best Boutique Spa’ at the Boutique Hotelier Awards and was shortlisted at the Professional Beauty Awards in the ‘Boutique Spa of The Year’ category.

The judges of the award were particularly impressed that The Spa at Bedford Lodge Hotel had invested a significant amount of time and money into training its staff to offer a more diverse and inclusive treatment menu, such as the Wellness For Cancer Treatment Menu, while always maintaining the highest standard of service.

Tie The Knot Outside

This year Hungarian Hall in Woodbridge, Suffolk, are launching several new outside areas where couples can tie the knot. These include under the large, ancient oak tree on the meadow, in front of the pond with water fountains in the background, or the Victorian Summerhouse.

Hungarian Hall offer indoor wedding ceremonies for up to 170 people or outside for large, Asian weddings of 300 or more guests. All weddings held at Hungarian Hall will have exclusive use based on two-and-a-half-day hire.

“One of my skills is in creative writing and being able to weave the beautiful story of couples together for their ceremony,” says Susan. “Everyone wants to feel special on their big day, and a relationship built between a couple and their celebrant will ensure that they feel that their story is at the forefront of everything that happens that day. A celebrant-led ceremony will be completely bespoke and unique. I’m also a seasoned presenter, I have further qualifications in speech and drama, and was a high school teacher of English for 10 years so I’m in a position to be able to offer couples a quality service for their special day. In addition, alongside my role as a celebrant I can also provide sessions for couples and families in presentation skills and/ or speech writing. I know, from years of experience, how many family members dread having to make a speech on the day and how that fear can be crippling for them, but with just a few one-to-one sessions, I can take that fear away, helping them prepare and present with confidence. I’m looking forward to meeting new couples, hearing their stories and working with them to create their wonderful ceremonies.”
