Located just a stone’s throw from Suffolk’s pebble beach, Thorpeness Country Club was built over 100 years ago in 1912. Boasting not only superb sea views, but also day-long sunshine during the summer months thanks to its South-East facing position, it’s the only beach side wedding venue across the whole of Suffolk and Norfolk.

There are two ceremony options to choose from. The first is the sea view lawn, with views stretching down the coastline of Aldeburgh, it’s a real dream come true for those whose life-long wish is to wed outdoors. The second is the Tennis Room, located on the ground floor of the Country Club, with large double doors along the entire side of the building, allowing natural light to flood the room and a wonderful view of the flowerbeds.

On the first floor of the Country Club is the Grand Ballroom, a beautiful spot in which wedding breakfasts and receptions take place. With space to seat up to 150 guests, it’s a truly charming room with lovely high ceilings, wooden beams draped in thousands of warm fairylights, and plenty of natural light with thanks to the large windows spanning the length of the room. The Grand Ballroom offers ample space to not only increase the evening reception by 50 guests, totalling up to 200 standing, it also provides room for a dancefloor and evening entertainment. There is a dedicated stage area ensuring a DJ or band are perfectly placed to entertain guests. There’s also a bar at the far end of the room, where there is space aplenty for any extra evening additions.

Isaacs On The Quay is a local landmark set on the Ipswich waterfront, ideal for those all-important just-wed photos. Full of character and charm, the venue boasts a rich history spanning centuries and was once a wool merchant’s home and workplace. The Grade I and Grade II* listed building has been lovingly restored and now provides a charming setting for weddings. Some of the oldest parts are thought to date back to between 1430 and 1550, and there are original features throughout, including exposed beams and vaulted ceilings, with exhibits from the building’s industrious past on display.

Formally known as the Sale Room, stone steps lead into the timber-framed ceremony room. Once used for storing wool cloth for exporting, it’s now a magical place to tie the knot and celebrate afterwards.

There’s a variety of other spaces for the wedding breakfast and reception, including the Crossways or Barley Room, ideal for intimate affairs.

For larger parties, the Top Floor comes complete with its own bar and beautiful views over the marina and can accommodate up to 80 loved ones for the wedding breakfast and 150 for the reception.

During the spring and summer months, the private garden is also an idyllic spot for a chilled barbecue.

The on-site Merchant House, dating back to 1636, is ideal for getting ready on the morning of the wedding, and there’s accommodation available for up to 14 guests with four double rooms and a romantic wedding suite.
