Look your big-day best with top expert advice

BIG-DAY BEAUTIFUL

I don’t wear a lot of make-up normally. How do I create the perfect big-day look while still feeling like me?

Creating a smooth base using minimal products is essential to ensure you still feel like you. Establish a simple skincare routine as soon as possible with a cleanser, toner and moisturiser to keep the skin smooth and hydrated. Allow your moisturiser to absorb before adding any make-up products.

Apply a thin layer of primer using a flat brush or damp beauty sponge before pressing and stippling a small amount of foundation onto the skin. Add more product to any areas that require extra coverage. Using a small dab of concealer, one or two shades lighter than your foundation, gently press the product over blemishes and under the corners of your eyes until blended.

Next, use a setting powder on oil-prone areas to lock the products and set the concealer under the eyes. For a healthy glow, sweep a bronzer along your hairline and cheekbones before applying blush in upwards motions.

Use two neutral colours for the eyes and sweep the lightest shade over your entire lids before lightly using a slightly darker shade in the sockets. Use an angled brush with deep brown eyeshadow just above the lash line to create a soft liner. Then you’ll want to brush your brows with a spoolie to tidy the hairs up and apply two coats of mascara to your lashes before finishing the look with nude lipstick or a gloss.
