For the love of dogs
Full of character and quirkiness, Zetter Townhouse Clerkenwell set the scene for Egle and Jason’s intimate celebration

Egle and Jason met on Tinder and with such a natural spark between them, they wasted no time. “After a few conversations we agreed to meet. We weren’t interested in playing ping pong with messages,” she says. They established that they both love dogs and the rest is history! “Jason had a boxer dog and my family have had a few of them in the past. I was convinced a man must be a keeper if he has such a good taste in dogs,” she says. Their first date was in Harry’s Dolce Vita and it went from there. “Jason was very keen and a true gentleman, which is such a rarity in London,” Egle recalls. “It took me more time and convincing my stubborn self, but his charm, consistency and positive outlook on life won me over.”
Eight months later, Jason proposed. “It all sounds very quick, but when you know you know,” Egle says. They actually had two proposals. The first one was at home, down on one knee in the spur of the moment after the bespoke engagement ring that Jason ordered had arrived and he couldn’t keep it hidden any longer. “The second was the celebration. Jason organised a lovely day in London full or surprises and a gorgeous dinner.”

Back In Time
Ideal for intimate city nuptials, Chelsea Old Town Hall was the ceremony venue. “It’s simply iconic. We both lived and spent most of our time and dates in Chelsea and we’d walked past the Town Hall so many times and witnessed quite few ‘just married’ couples walking down those iconic stairs,” says Egle. “It’s such a pretty view, and we were glad to come back there for our own wedding,” she adds.
For the reception, the duo chose Zetter Townhouse Clerkenwell. “We loved its quirkiness and one-of-a-kind cabinet of curiosities!” says Egle. “We both wanted something with a lot of character, and it was perfect for our day. We had our wedding breakfast in the Games Room followed by dancing and cocktails in Wilhelmina’s Lounge. The staff at Zetter were extremely accommodating and a pleasure to work with and we had so much fun,” she says. They stayed in their largest room, The Apartment, the night before and for the wedding night. “I felt like I’d been transported back in time,” she says.

Guests were transported to Clerkenwell in a vintage Route Master bus. “We visited iconic London sights on the way there, it was a great addition to our day.”
Radiating Elegance

Egle wore the Made with Love, River dress and looked stunning. “As we were opting for a town hall and not a church ceremony, I wanted something elegant and classy, as well as venue appropriate,” she says. “River was elegant, timeless and had a little sex appeal! I loved the simple crepe fabric for the bottom part and embellished deep V-neck top.” She accessorised with tulle gloves and a simple cathedral-length veil and carried a bouquet of nude roses. “I absolutely adored Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s wedding look – she’s the epitome of modern bridal elegance, and the beauty of simplicity. My tulle gloves were inspired by her,” she says. For the reception, Egle changed into a two-piece trouser and top combo from Galvan London. “I’ll get to wear it on other occasions, and it radiated modern elegance, which is right up my street. It was a spur of the moment purchase. I tried it on in Selfridges and I couldn’t leave without it,” she adds.

Jason looked handsome in a black tuxedo by Reiss and Egle’s bridesmaids wore burgundy dresses from Oasis and they chose their own shoes and accessories.

Flower Power
“I completely fell in love with the work of our florist,” says Egle. “I wanted flowerheavy, bold blooms with no foliage or greenery, and she provided exactly that. Our table flowers included maroon peonies and peachy nude, coffee latte and blush roses. I wanted something to my taste rather that what was trending right now,” she says.
For the centrepieces, matching flowers were placed in jam jars and surrounded by a mixture of ribbed and extra thin burgundy and nude candles.

“For our place names we processed animated polaroid pictures of our guests and instead of place cards, we asked them to find their faces, not their names,” Egle explains. “We sat everyone on four tables based on their relationship to us and named each table: Bride’s Ladies; Bride and Groom; Groom’s Family, Beloved Friends.”
Tears Of Joy
For the favours, guests were treated to a gift-wrapped traditional Lithuanian mead drink. “Midus is consumed in Lithuania during weddings, so we continued that tradition,” says Egle.
Their two-tier lemon curd-flavoured cake was finished in buttercream and decorated with cascading rose petals that complemented the rest of the floral styling. Zetter Townhouse created the big-day menus. “We had Champagne on arrival, a three-course sit-down meal, followed by petit fours with tea and coffee and cocktails in the bar afterwards, it was all lovely,” she says.
A live vocalist performed a varied repertoire from 1920s swing to presentday pop and soul, vintage jazz and latin styles. “Everyone loved her, she was fantastic,” Egle recalls.

Looking back on their day, Egle and Jason have so many happy memories. “I love that Jason got teary at the altar and was trying his best not to burst into happy tears when he saw me,” she says.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxed day and so did our guests. It was so ‘us’ and we wouldn’t change a thing.” www.thekensingtonphotographer.co.uk www.lauraslondon.com www.papier.com/
