All on board!
Be inspired by this romantically nautical shoot
Those looking for a quirky venue will love the idea of tying the knot on a ship! Hayley, owner of Hayley Jayne Photography was approached by HQS Wellington to help create a different look on board so couples can see what can be created within the various spaces. By bringing in key focal points and using the right colours through the flowers and props, the team of talented creatives transformed the space into a soft romantic setting – a concept that can be used across all venues. Here Hayley tells us more…

“We were drawn to HQS Wellington because it’d just opened its doors to the wedding market, and it was a different venue, rich in history with stunning views across London,” she says. “Stephanie from Monet Events created a mood board and decided on the ‘Romantically nautical’ theme. The colours were on trend and added something extra to the available interior in the ship. The soft dusky blues, greens and pinks really complemented the space available.”
Katrina Skybak Doyle from Cloud Hill Flowers set up the most amazing fresh displays full of meadow bows and arches that varied in height. “We wanted to create that romantic, luxury feel with an abundance of flowers in beautiful hues of blue, blush and lots of scented foliage,” says Katrina. “We used a mixture of Roses, Ranunculus, Hydrangeas, Peonies and Delphiniums to add texture and different dimensions to each arrangement. We also designed floral arches, columns and meadow boxes for the ceremony area and aisle, that were used for dressing the reception space too,” she explains. “We created a beautiful top table scene, using the meadow boxes on the floor at the front to create the opulent feel and then had the columns towards the back framing the whole look. We loved making the vision a reality with seasonal flowers.”
When it came to choosing a favourite shot, Hayley loved the indoor ceremony area under the canopy with the models. “The styling made an empty space look extraordinary, and the natural light flooding through and London backdrop made it even more beautiful to capture,” she says.
