Doris and George’s finishing touches were inspired by their Croatian and Greek heritage

Doris and George met for the first time virtually, through a mutual friend on Facebook, before bumping into each other at a music festival – their first encounter #IRL. Fast forward to a family holiday in Cyprus where the now couple were visiting a wine festival, and George proposed. It was the date of his late grandma’s birthday, so this was a hugely significant and meaningful choice.

The duo decided on Montague Farm as their all-important venue thanks to its gorgeous outdoor spaces and breathtaking views. “It’s a hidden gem in East Sussex,” Doris says.

The date was set for 20th August, 2022. Read on as the bride tells us more...

Setting The Scene

To complement their venue Doris and George opted for a rustic theme with a blush pink palette. Each element and finishing touch was selected to bring the theme together including the place and table names, which were carved from wood. The centrepieces featured three cylindrical vases containing a floating candle, which were sat on log slices.

The big-day flower arrangements included a mixture of dried and fresh blooms, the colour of which reflected the bridesmaids’ dresses. Some were used to decorate the four-tier wedding cake, which was also adorned in a carved, wooden topper. The ceremony backdrop too was created using fresh flowers, which tied in with the bride’s bouquet.

The couple wanted to reflect their heritage in their big day and gifted friends and family wedding favours inspired by Croatia and Greece, where their families are from. They served Greek meze for the wedding breakfast and everyone tucked in to a hog roast in the evening.

Looking The Part

Doris looked stunning in a Stella York gown, style number 7118. “I loved the fitted style of the dress as well as the lace, which tied in with the bridesmaids’ dresses, and the train was beautiful,” the bride shares. She accessorised with a blush pink hair clip from Lace and Favour, along with a necklace and earring set. The finishing touch was a long veil, which she wore during the day.

George wore a grey three-piece Hugo Boss suit, which differed from the groomsmen’s. The bridesmaids meanwhile were resplendent in long, pleated blush dresses adorned in lace at the top.

Time To Celebrate

Guests were kept amused with oversized garden games. “We set these up mainly to entertain the children as we had around 15 there on the day. However, the adults also wanted to join in the fun and it got very competitive,” Doris remembers fondly.

In the evening, plenty of fun was had in the photo booth and a saxophonist played alongside the DJ, proving a great hit and a memorable way to end the day. One of the couple’s highlights was the Greek dancing that everyone got involved with. The bride says, “It was so much fun and it really got the party started.” In fact this wasn’t the only dancing guests got involved with as the best man’s daughter decided to join the newlyweds in their first dance!

The Getaway

Doris and George headed off to Crete on honeymoon, booking it last minute before they had to go back to work. “It was a beautiful hotel. We had a swim-up room and definitely made the most of the all-inclusive cocktails,” Doris shares. At the moment they’re planning another, ultimate honeymoon, which is still in the works.
