Fae and Joe were instantly attracted to each other and couldn’t wait to tie the knot at The Mandolay Hotel

Fae and Joe met through mutual friends and were instantly attracted to each other. Their fondness grew, and they agreed to go on their first date at a beautiful pub in Surrey. After a few years together, Joe popped the question. “We were on Burgh Island in Devon,” shares Fae. “I was pregnant with our second baby, so I was a bit confused as to why he was making me trek up a hill, but when I got to the top, it all made sense as it was the most beautiful day with breathtaking views. I was really surprised when Joe asked me to be his wife, but I couldn’t have been happier.” Here the bride shares some of her favourite moments from their big day...

Before making a decision, we went to view a few different venues, but The Mandolay Hotel had everything we wanted. It was modern and clean, had a lovely outdoor space and enough accommodation for our guests to stay over. Our families travelled from France, Australia, Canada and up North to be with us, so it was important we had enough room for them to stay the whole weekend if they wanted to.

Instead of favours, we decided to have a Pick n Mix table, which went down very well with our guests.

The bridesmaids’ bouquets were made up of gypsophila, and mine was a gorgeous mixture of blue, blush and white flowers.

Sahar’s Cakery created our three-tiered blue, white and gold cake, which was made up of lemon and Biscoff.

Our centrepieces were a mixture of beautiful tall and short displays.

Our place names tied in with our blue and gold colour scheme and were created by Coral & Slate Designs.

I wore a Justin Alexander dress from Tilly Mint Weddings. It was not the style that I thought I would go for, but after trying on several different dresses, I fell in love with it. I wouldn’t have spotted it if my mum hadn’t encouraged me to give something else a try.

Joe opted for a black suit with a white shirt and bow tie from Moss Bros. He looked classic and handsome and had a slightly different shirt from the groomsmen to help him stand out.

My best friend, James, did a speech and it was beautiful. He shared some great stories about us growing up together and had everyone in tears of laughter.

We had the most fantastic DJ in the evening from Farnham Sound & Light Limited.

My bridesmaids chose blue off-the-shoulder dresses from Chi Chi London that looked gorgeous on a hot summer’s day. I also had a bridesman who wore a velvet suit.

On the morning of the wedding, I was so excited that I practically ran down the aisle and had to be told to slow down! Seeing everyone having a fabulous time chatting and laughing was wonderful, and we couldn’t have wished for more.
