School’s OUT
After meeting at school love blossomed for Alison and Roman Images courtesy of Terri Pashley

Alison and Roman met at secondary school. “We knew of each other, but it wasn’t until we left school that we got to know each other properly through parties and mutual friends,” says the bride. “It wasn’t a romantic story with lots of flowers and dates – we were young, clicked and fell in love!”
Roman proposed on the couple’s 10 year anniversary. “We were meant to be in Italy celebrating, but Covid hit so he popped the question during lockdown,” continues the bride. “I’d made Roman a memory book with photographs of different times throughout our relationship as a gift, and jokingly wrote on the last page, ‘What will be next for us?’. I’d of course written it as a not-so-subtle hint, but was shocked when he got to the last page and got down on one knee, producing a ring from his pocket!”
The couple set the date for the 28th May, 2022, choosing Bunny Hill Weddings for their big day. Here, Alison tells us more about their amazing celebration…

The Perfect Place
Choosing a venue was one of the easiest options for the couple. “I had stumbled across Bunny Hill Weddings on Instagram a year or so before we got engaged and fell in love with it just from the pictures,” says Alison. “I followed their account and always thought how amazing it would be to get married there ome day. After we got engaged I made sure to book a viewing as soon as was possible – and it didn’t disappoint. It was everything we had ever dreamt of and more, with private grounds and stunning scenery. We also loved how the owners had thought of every single detail – it even has a zip line on site! We had other viewings booked at alternative venues, but as soon as we left and got in the car, Roman turned to me and said, ‘This has got to be where we get married!’”

PIC ’N’ MIX
When it came to organising the little touches, Alison and Roman had plenty of ideas to hand. “Our gorgeous wooden table place names were made by a close friend of ours,” continues Alison. “Our florist was in charge of designing our centrepieces, with half the tables featuring tall gold stands with flower arrangements on, plus floating candles, tealights and petals around the base. The other half featured floating candles in glass cylinders and stemmed glass at different heights with tealights and petals. They looked incredible!”
For favours, the couple decided to go for something to really get people talking. “We opted for little ‘roulette’ shot bottles for each guest, with either a clear spirit or water!” continues Alison. “After Roman finished his speech, he asked everyone to take a drink from their bottles – and their faces instantly gave away what drink they had!”
First Time Lucky
Alison found dress-shopping a breeze, as it was the first gown she tried on! “I’m normally quite a minimalistic person when it comes to dresses, so my Zavana Couture Amira Gown was a little out of character for me! I teamed it with a long, plain veil, as it was stunning enough without additional accessories.”
The rest of the bridal party also looked the part, starting with the couple’s daughter. “The team in Chloe Jane Bridalwear; where I bought my dress, provided me with material in the same style as my gown, so I could have a flower girl outfit made for her,” continues the bride. “I found an amazing dressmaker on social media, and she matched us perfectly. My bridesmaids looked just as gorgeous in their sage green dresses, while Roman and his groomsmen wore tuxedos – including the kids!”

LET’S EAT
Food-wise, Alison and Roman were keen to keep their guests wellcatered for. “Bunny Hill Weddings use an amazing company that let you choose whatever you want,” says Alison. “For canapés, we enjoyed mini Yorkshire puddings with beef and gravy, chicken burgers and sliders, and mini pies with steak and pea purée. They even added a tiny steiner of real ale to this! We then had Italian antipasti platters, roast meat boards and chocolate brownies for our wedding breakfast; with loaded fries in the evening. Our guests still say now how much they loved the food.”

For their wedding cake, the couple kept things simple. “We wanted a minimalistic design so chose a plain white three-tier style, decorated with flowers from our florist. After sampling a lot of lovely cake, we decided on white chocolate, chocolate and lemon and poppy seed flavours.”
Zip To It
Entertainment-wise, the couple took full advantage of the venue’s own facilities. “A lot of our guests – including myself! – were on the zip line throughout the day and night, which was brilliant fun,” continues the bride. “We also hired singing waiters who performed after the main course. They got everybody up standing on their chairs, waving napkins in the air, and the party continued after that! The DJ then started and the dance floor was always full, which was how we wanted it to be.”

Looking back, there were many memorable moments the couple will cherish forever. “Getting ready was a lovely part of the day, as it was filled with anticipation and excitement,” remembers Alison. “Our best friends were in charge of the speeches, and they really did us proud; both packed with laughter and emotion. Our photographer, Terri, was also amazing, keeping us relaxed and capturing so many incredible shots.”
