Janet Howkins is a mixed media memorial artist from Step in the Picture based in Leigh, Greater Manchester. She turns memories into contemporary works of art, telling a couple’s story in a picture. “The service I offer is unique and very personal,” says Janet. “Whether you want a memory of your day, a memorial dedicated to a loved one, a simple and elegant cast of your flowers or a three-hour botanical relief workshop experience for your hen party, I offer them all. I preserve wedding flowers, but it’s much more than that. I can include colour schemes, buttonholes, and material from your dress and to make it even more personal, elements such as the gravel you walked on or sprigs of foliage from the venue can be included too.
“As an artist, I can even include painted references of the fragrance you wore and the car you turned up in,” continues Janet. “Did you include your pets or hire a llama? If so, they can be in it too! If you want to remember loved ones, I can tell their story and add an essence of them by including a tiny bit of ashes or small objects/material to make them the heart of the story. My job is to create an experience and a legacy by reigniting the excitement from your big day. It’s your journey, so you are kept up-to-date with videos and pictures. Your piece is then professionally framed and returned to you, ready to hang. I offer a complimentary call and offer my services nationwide.”
