THE MAINperformance Natalie and Stewart’s musical-themed wedding was full of beautiful touches

Natalie and Stewart first met at their local dance school and got to know each other more by performing in pantomimes together. After going their separate ways, the pair lost contact for a few years but bumped into each other after being casted for West Side Story. From that moment, they started to form a strong connection and slowly fell in love.

On a trip to New York for Natalie’s surprise 30th birthday, Stewart found the perfect moment to propose. He set up his phone in Central Park for a selfie but was secretly recording and managed to capture the whole thing!

The couple set the wedding date for June 19th 2021, and created the most beautiful day surrounded by loved ones. Here Natalie shares details about their special day...

We wanted the day to be exactly how we’d pictured it and our main goal was to make sure everyone had enough food. We picked Buxton Crescent Hotel for our wedding venue because it had recently been restored and was close to Buxton Opera House, where we rekindled our friendship.

I picked an Essense of Australia gown and felt so beautiful on the day. We had a beautiful white and gold table plan; each table was named after a musical we both loved.

Stunning flowers and candles made up our centrepieces. The groom wore a Moss Bros. navy suit and bow tie, which matched the groomsmen.

Our place names were playbills of musicals we’d watched in New York or that had a strong importance to us. We had giant light-up letters saying ‘The Bowdens’.

We hired two traditional wedding cars for transport.

Our favour boxes had West Side Story sheet music on and inside were chocolate bars with a picture of us both plus our dog and ATG vouchers.

Flowers were added to our rustic-style cake, which had lemon and lime flavours. The bridesmaids wore sage green A-line gowns.

We hired a singer to keep guests entertained.

Guests had to stay seated for the evening reception due to Covid-19 regulations, but we boogied while sitting down.

A moment that stood out to us both was after the ceremony when we sat in the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car and blasted music with our friends and family. We both felt extremely happy on the day!

For our honeymoon, we travelled around the North Coast 500 in our Volkswagen campervan with our two dogs – we got to see so much of Scotland and particularly loved Loch Ness.
