Meet the team: Joseph and Isabella Wookey own Chalk, an exclusiveuse barn wedding venue located near Rushall in Wiltshire.
The interiors inside Chalk Barn are stunning, offering an organic feel and a natural style, setting the perfect background reflecting the surroundings. Simple yet sophisticated, it’s a wonderful backdrop to any event ranging from a rustic-inspired wedding to a contemporary celebration. The floor-to-ceiling windows frame views across the infinity lawn stretching for miles and the garden is landscaped to create spaces that allow guests to enjoy the natural Wiltshire wildlife.
Wildflowers in abundance encourage a variety of biodiversity to make the surroundings rich with life, whilst also providing alternative spaces for photos and food trucks. The venue is sustainable with the water, heating and electricity all produced on-site.
Ceremonies take place outside under the arbour or in the main area of the barn offering far-flung views of the Pewsey Vale for up to 150 guests, while receptions take place on the infinity lawn or in the main barn.
Couples receive a complimentary menu tasting if they book a wedding at the barn. They also have the option to stay in The Hide on their wedding night which is secluded in woodland boasting views of the lake. The romantic hut features a king-size bed, free-standing copper bath, wood burner and a continental breakfast is provided.

Meet the expert: Daniella Marinos is a professional wedding photographer based in Gloucestershire. Her work offers a natural, documentary-style of photography and she captures those special moments as they unfold.
Daniella says: Whether it’s an intimate or lavish affair, couples need to feel comfortable with their choice of wedding photographer and there are some important things for them to consider. Firstly, request a video call if you can’t arrange to meet them in person at a wedding fair or their studio. This is important so that you can get to know their personality. Have images ready to show them of how you envisage your day and point out what you like about different photographer’s work. Be clear about what you want but remember that the photographer is only as good as the surroundings and opportunities presented to them.
Always try to provide a must-have list of shots of family members. When couples say they want the natural candid images, they usually also require the staged shots of their loved ones.
A timeline for the wedding day is crucial because a photographer works with this to see whether there will be enough time to get everything done in an unobtrusive way (bearing in mind the weather forecast). Most venues will provide a timeline of the day one month before the wedding so it’s worth asking for this.
If you’re shy and introverted in front of the camera then don’t worry – as long as you smile, a personable photographer will bring out your different characters through the pictures. It’s important to enquire when you’re likely to receive your images and in which format this will be, whether it’s an album or a USB stick. It’s also worth bearing in mind whether you want colour shots or black and white and maybe sepia choices too.

Meet the expert: Tony Cryer is the director of the wedding car business at the Atwell Wilson Motor Museum located in Calne. It’s the only motor museum in Wiltshire and offers vintage and modern classic car hire for weddings.
Tony says: We have 14 vehicles ranging from 1929 to 1984 models in our wedding car fleet, the oldest being a 1929 Model A Ford. We also have three American cars plus a 1954 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith in midnight blue with foldaway seats for eight passengers and a 1938 Daimler EL24 in dark maroon and black (both pictured). Standard prices range from £300 to £495 based on a 15-mile radius of the museum.
