LOVE IS IN THE AIR
Patricia and Sean first met online, where they never expected to meet their lifelong partners. After messaging back and forth, the pair set off for their first date at Miller and Carter. Patricia says, “We had a nice meal while talking and getting to know each other more. We hit it off straight away and sealed the night with a romantic kiss.”
Sean was captured by everything about Patricia and he loved how good she was with his son, which made him fall in love even more. He proposed on 28th November 2019 at the Palace of Culture and Science in Poland, which was three days after Patricia’s 29th birthday and she was so suprised! They were enjoying the stunning views when he pulled out the ring, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him – the rest is history!
SETTING THE SCENE
Patricia and Sean’s wedding took place on the 28th August 2021, at the Spanish City in Whitley Bay. When searching for a property, the couple wanted a fresh and airy venue with incredible views – they found just that. The bride says, “The second we walked into the venue, we knew it was the one. The room was the perfect size for our intimate wedding and the 360 rooftop view was incredible – we knew we’d get some amazing photographs there!”
To match the white and sage green colour scheme, the bride opted for a loose and natural-styled bouquet with a mix of roses and foliage, including eucalyptus and a touch of gypsophila. A satin ribbon was tied around the stems, and the bride added a charm saying ‘with you every step’ with a photo of her late grandma. Other floral touches included a huge flower arch, a beautiful flower display on the top table and small flowergirl bouquets consisting of gypsophila.
The table plan helped guests find their seats and featured a beautiful flower arrangement on top. The simple white place names each featured some greenery in the corner and showed each person where to sit. There were tall-metal stands in the middle of each table, which not only looked beautiful but allowed guests to see each other easily. On top of the stands were loose floral displays with stunning hydrangeas, which made a huge statement.
Each guest was given a little white envelope with a scratch card and a penny inside to highlight Sean’s love for the lottery. The bride says, “A funny moment was when our friend Matty thought he’d won the jackpot only to realise he needed six words, not just six letters to win.”
The lovebirds decided to have a three-course meal for the wedding breakfast. Twice-baked cheddar cheese soufflé with an apple salad and walnuts was served for the starters, while chicken breast wrapped in Bayonne ham with green peppercorn sauce and gratin potatoes was for the main. Guests tucked into a raspberry and vanilla pavlova for dessert with raspberry yoghurt cream. To keep their loved ones from going hungry in the evening, guests enjoyed an evening buffet with hot beef and pork sandwiches as well as potato wedges.
When it came to deciding on the perfect cake, the couple decided on a three-tiered bake with vanilla, lemon and coconut flavours. Fresh flowers that matched the colour scheme was added on top.
LOOKING THE PART
Patricia wore a stunning dress from Sì. Bridal & Co in Newcastle by designer Riki Dalal. It featured a sheath train, plunging V-neckline, an open back, spaghetti straps and subtle beading embellishments along the top. The elegant silhouette looked beautiful, and Patricia stole the show walking down the aisle. She also made several strangers stop and compliment her and even brought some to tears.
With the gown being so showstopping and sparkly, Patricia decided
to accessorise her look with a long and simple white veil, sparkly high heels by Badgley Mischka and simple pearl earrings – the perfect finishing touches to a timeless and classic look. The bride-to-be says, “The whole morning was filled with nerves, but I knew I looked the way I envisioned myself and was so happy with every single thing.”
Sean wore a black, slim fit Moss Bros. suit with a white shirt, a black satin bow and Ted Baker shoes. The groom had one best man, Michael and his 11-year-old son Ethan was the ring bearer – both wore black suits with a black ties and shoes.
Patricia’s best friend Sandra was her maid-of-honour, and she wore a muted earthy-toned dress by Victoria Lou Bridal in the colour fossil. She accessorised her look with gold jewellery and sparkly high heels.
TIME TO CELEBRATE
To keep guests entertained in the evening, the couple had a DJ play some fantastic tunes that got everyone dancing. A massive hit with guests was the Mr and Mrs game, where the best man created several questions that were read out, and the pair raised either their own shoe or the other person’s to reflect the answer. The bride says, “The game was so was funny and a bit inappropriate – luckily our videographer was no longer there to capture it!”
A funny moment from the day was the bouquet throw. Patricia comments. “All the single ladies had lined up only for our friend Sharon to run through the door out of nowhere to catch the bouquet at the last second and then ran away with it! Our videographer said this moment deserved its own video, it made everyone laugh hysterically and we definitely won’t forget it.”
MEMORABLE MOMENTS
The night before the wedding, Patricia felt super nervous and didn’t sleep at all, while Sean felt fine until his bride-to-be walk down the aisle and the emotions flooded through.
One moment that stood out to Sean was watching a short video message from Patricia’s dad, who unfortunately couldn’t make the wedding from the United States due to Covid-19 restrictions. He also loved having his friends and family together after a long time apart during the pandemic.
Patricia loved having their photos taken on the intimate rooftop, especially the shots of the pair under her veil, as well as the stunning golden hour pictures on the beach, which allowed the two some quiet and alone time.
The speeches were full of meaningful words that touched the couple’s hearts. The bride says, “The best man’s speech was super long, nine pages in total, but it made us laugh.”
The photographer, Victoria at Victoria Lilly Photography and florist Zoe from Zoe The Wedding Florist, are friends of the bride and made the couple’s day that extra bit special. Patricia says, “They both went above and beyond in their own ways. Victoria was seven months pregnant at the time, and our videographer Kim put us at ease so much throughout the day by making jokes and having a laugh. They were brilliant with all the kids and so dedicated that they’ve spent half the day on the floor to get the best shots and angles.” She continues, “I’m so grateful to all my suppliers and glam squad who took full control to make me and the venue look stunning. The master-of-ceremonies took all the stress out of the day and ensured everything ran smoothly.”
HONEYMOON
After such a beautiful wedding, the couple set off for Corfu in Greece for 11 nights where they had a lovely private pool, swam in the warm sea, travelled around the island and enjoyed plenty of Greek food. The couple’s original plan was to visit their family villa in Turkey, but this trip has been postponed to 2022 due to Covid-19 restrictions. The bride says, “In Corfu, we saw several beautiful places, snorkelled and scubadived with all the fish, which was the highlight of our honeymoon. The whole trip was splendid, and we made lots of amazing memories.”
