Blaithwaite House is a secluded property set within 30 acres of grounds and 50 acres of woodland. The rear of the venue backs onto a cobbled courtyard that leads onto an established orchard. The former Georgian frontage overlooks the gardens leading to the sandstone summer houses that are surrounded by ornate water.

The Barn, with its sandstone walls, oak beams and chandeliers, has a rustic charm, yet the mansion house still holds onto the features of an estate home. Calthwaite Hall has invested in a new custom-built Victorian-style Orangery. This impressive building has a glass front with double doors opening onto a Mediterranean style garden with plants and herbs. The space has an elegant, neutral canvas that can be personalised to suit different themes and colour schemes, a full bar set-up with beer pumps and a designated dancefloor area. It’s capable of seating 120 guests formally and 150 for an informal evening celebration.

Alternatively, the formal Drawing Room, which has a grand piano and log burner, can hold 110 loved ones.

The one-of-a-kind spiral staircase in the Hallway can accommodate 40 guests and provides a beautiful ceremony space with an abundance of photo opportunities.

Large celebrations are held under the arched-stone portico, which can be decorated with a choice of flowers and garlands and can fit 200 friends and family.

Eden Barn is a traditional 200-year-old Westmorland stone barn that was transformed after the owner’s daughter asked if she could hold her reception there in 2015. The small family-run venue is full of rustic charm, from the giant chandeliers and exposed stone walls to the limestone flagged floor and vaulted ceiling. Outside there are expansive views, a handthatched gazebo and beautifully landscaped grounds. There’s also a new Couples Lounge that’s complete with a suspended green lighting canopy and wall of mirrors. This room has a boho, relaxed vibe and is available exclusively throughout the day.

Couples can tie the knot in the main barn or in the adjoining reception/ bar area, which has wooden vaulted ceilings, stone-flagged flooring and cosy seating areas. Hundhowe is a new wedding venue that’s been decorated to create a homely yet elegant feel.
