Leah and Mike celebrated their marriage with friends and family at Victoria Warehouse

Leah and Mike met at Heaton Moor Golf Club. “I had a part-time summer job there, and Mike was a member at the club,” says Leah. “There was an instant attraction. He offered me golf lessons so he could spend more time with me, and I was impressed when he won a major competition during one of my first shifts. Needless to say, his golf has gone downhill ever since!”

Mike proposed during a trip to Barcelona. “He told me to pack a small suitcase as he had booked a surprise weekend away,” shares the bride. “I packed all my woollies, thinking it would be a weekend in the Lakes but was excited when Mike handed me a boarding pass over the breakfast table. We headed straight to the airport and had our first holiday in Barcelona. I was suspicious at this point and thought he may be planning something at dinner later that evening, so I was shocked when he got down on one knee in front of the La Sagrada Família.”

Here she shares some of her favourite moments from their big day...

The Church of St. James was local to us, and it’s where my parents got married. After the ceremony, we spent a lot of time walking through the surrounding gardens and taking photographs. We had a small drinks reception at Ye Olde Cock Inn in Disbury before transporting our guests to Victoria Warehouse. We’re both from Manchester and liked the urban feel of Victoria Warehouse. To decorate the space, we chose clusters of Edison lighting from Peter Lockwood Events. Our venue was perfect for dancing, and the food was a relaxed barbecue that was delivered to each table.

For our favours, we gave our guests caricatures that looked like them. Mike and I chose lanterns, mirrors, fake flowers, fairylights and candles for our centrepieces.

I opted for a fitted dress from Ronald Joyce. It was originally strapless, but I had a bespoke lace long sleeve jacket made by Boutique Alterations to fit over the top. As the gown had pearls in the design, I chose similar accessories, including my late grandma’s pearl necklace and a headband. Mike and the groomsmen were kitted out in Moss Bros three-piece navy suits.

The bridesmaids wore navy backless dresses from Chi Chi London with gold shoes and accessories. New York Brass Band crashed our first dance and had everyone up on the dancefloor all night. They were so much fun!

Thomas Demol Photographie made us feel so comfortable! He felt like one of the girls and had such a relaxed vibe. The make-up artist Jodie A Smith was also amazing. We had such a laugh getting ready and felt so excited. For our honeymoon, we went to Turkey. It’s a firm favourite with my family, and my sister even got married there in 2017. We spent a week eating and drinking in the rooftop restaurants and going to our favourite beach clubs.
