TRAVEL GOALS

Getting married at Hensol Castle was like a fairytale. We loved the venue after attending my sister’s wedding there. We wanted a property where we could stay all day, and the grounds were just stunning.

Bella Cakes provided a four-tier white cake with 3D flowers.

Our table plan was a map of the world with each table named after places we’d visited together.

We included lots of decorative touches and had photos from family members’ weddings on display. We also had a memory table of loved ones that had passed and couldn’t be with us.

Marc and I chose a mixture of white roses, stocks and eucalyptus from Best Buds by Samara. The centrepieces were a mixture of tall candelabras and vases filled with white flowers and greenery.

Our catering was done by Hensol Castle. They provided warm Welshcakes, drinks on arrival and a three-course meal followed by a hog roast in the evening.

My dress was a Dando London design called Desire from ONE1 Bridal. I accessorised with silver pearl drop earrings, Jimmy Choo shoes and a veil. We decorated the space with flowers along the staircase, a blossom tree arch outside the doors, candles, photos and dancefloor signs.

Marc wore a black tuxedo from Dyfed Menswear. He stood out by having black buttons down his shirt while the groomsmen had white versions.

To keep our guests entertained, we had Bagpiper South Wales – John Campbell perform as the guests arrived. Ffion Wyn Sax then played some of our favourite songs on the saxophone during the drinks reception and singing waiters, Sing & Spin, pretended to fall over during the meal before singing five songs which got everyone dancing. Finally, we had a live band called The Styles in the evening with a DJ afterward. Our friends and family said all of the entertainers was amazing and we would recommend them all.

On the morning of the wedding, we felt excited and nervous. We were so glad we could finally have our day after it was postponed twice due to the pandemic. The singing waiters really shocked everyone. Only I knew about it and it was a surprise for Marc as well.

Marc’s three best men did a speech, along with my dad and Marc. These weren’t PG-rated which made it even funnier. Everyone was in such a good mood all day and it was an amazing experience!

For our honeymoon, we went to Barbados for eight nights. We planned it together and took our 11-month-old son. It was perfect and the best holiday ever.
