Scarlet Minx Millinery offers bespoke hats and headpieces and ready-to-wear options for the bride, mother of bride/groom and wedding guests.
“I trained in a hat shop in Guildford before lockdown and was trained by a top London milliner Katherine Elizabeth,” says Charlotte, the owner of Scarlet Minx Millinery. “Working from our home studio in the heart of Surrey, we offer a personal, one-to-one consultation to help our couples feel at ease. Whether you’re choosing a hat from our collection, or having a bespoke piece made, you’ll be able to try on different shapes and styles and play around with trims and embellishments until you find the one. I was a bridalwear dressmaker for more than 15 years, so have a great background in the industry, and we will be able to help you find that perfect piece which suits not only you but your personality and outfit as a whole too. All our pieces are handmade with love and care, using the finest materials such as lace, silks and hand-embellished appliqué and beadwork. We can use leftover fabrics from your dress alterations and incorporate them into your design, or you can pick fabrics from our bridal catalogues.
“I also offer millinery events that are great for hen parties. The event lasts about three hours long, and during that time, I help people make their own headpieces to take home.”

Lingfield-based florist, Butterflies & Bows works across Surrey, West Kent, East Sussex, Croydon and parts of South London. The team provide fresh and artificial flowers and full venue décor, including table centres, chair décor, fairylight backdrops, arches, draping, flower garlands and lighting for weddings and parties. The owner of Butterflies & Bows, Annabel Grange, tells us: “We provide a friendly and professional service. We have over 18 years of experience and can assist with intimate nuptials or grand celebrations. We can provide a very cost-effective and efficient service and will work closely with you to ensure that your every need is catered for.
“I started at night school whilst I was working as a UK sales manager for an electronics company. I’d always loved my garden and saw a course being advertised for floristry, so I thought, why not? I’m a great believer in fate! The electronics company I was working for was being taken over a couple of years later, so I decided to start up my own floristry and décor company.
“I meet my couples for a one-on-one consultation and go through every detail of their day, especially colours. Using my huge portfolio, this gives the bride and groom a feel of what the finished product will look like. I provide a personal service, and unlike some other shops, I only do one or two weddings per day. I also deliver and set up, and collect any loaned items the next day, so you don’t have to worry. I love a challenge, so if you’re looking for something a little different, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, and we will endeavour to provide it for you.”

“We are a husband and wife team who collectively have almost 25 years of professional experience in the patisserie and cake industry,” says Holly Bordon. “We’ve used all our experience to curate the perfect cake menu. If it’s on our menu, then you can trust that we love it, and it’s a recipe that we use for our cakes at home. We use free-range eggs, real butter, vanilla bean extract, quality Belgian chocolate and our favourite jams and curds.
“Our formal training and experience in professional culinary environments ensures a high standard of production, from baking the perfect sponge right through to meticulous details and a flawless finish. If you don’t know what sort of cake you’d like, I will talk through it with you and help you design the perfect creation for your wedding. I will give you different ideas, advice and options for the theme, size and even weather conditions. If you already have an idea in mind, then we can work together to find the best way to translate your vision into cake form. We are committed to providing a seamless service, and all our wedding bookings include a cake tasting box, online consultation and delivery and set up (if within our delivery area). Fondant cakes will also receive a sketch.”
“Cakewalk Creations is my creative space,” says owner Geraldine. “I’ve spent close to 30 years delighting in the creativity and reward of designing, baking and crafting celebration cakes. I have a passion for baking cakes that are absolutely delicious, after all, there’s no point in a cake that isn’t worth the calories! The next most important thing is that my customer is delighted and proud to present the bake at their special event. I love seeing a happy and surprised smile on my customer’s face, and it’s what I aim for every time.
“My speciality is handcrafting decorations. I love crafting bespoke figurines to resemble specific people and their pets, and I also create sculpted 3D cakes to resemble characters, animals and cars etc. I find it extremely rewarding to start off with a small gathering of ingredients and to end up with a completed project that brings joy and pride to my customers.
“I have produced a wedding cake for couples and then gone on to do their children’s christening cakes and birthday cakes for years after. My craft brings me both the joy of creation and a great relationship with my customers, many of whom become friends.”
