FLORAL FABULOUSNESS

We chat to the lovely owners of Tweedle Floral Design (www.tweedlefloraldesign.co.uk), Erika McManus & Samantha Taylor…

Tell us about your business... Tweedle Floral Design consists of a partnership, Erika McManus and Samantha Taylor. Our small floristry business and home-based workshop is in Wakefield, although we do travel further afield for larger events. We choose to work with sustainable methods of floristry and use foam-free mechanics in all our work.

What’s your favourite type of wedding to work on? We value each and every booking we get because of the individuality of the couple; it’s amazing how different everyone’s floral vision for their day can be. We love to make that a reality for them – no matter the palette, theme or inspiration behind it.

What’s your top tip for couples choosing their flowers? Think about seasonality. If you’re set on having particular flowers, then let your florist know so they can check availability for your big day. If they’re not available, your florist will have the knowledge to provide alternatives that will deliver the same impact.

Have you diversified during the pandemic? The pandemic has confirmed that the power of flowers is huge. We wouldn’t normally have such a big focus on gift bouquets, but we have found that when family members could not be with one another for special occasions then we could provide that connection with our doorstep deliveries.

Green with envy

Ecoblooms is a company specialising in eco-friendly wedding flower alternatives that you can keep and treasure as a keepsake of your big day. Run by Sylvia Pearson, the company has had to get creative while weddings have been on hold. “I create handmade, everlasting flowers from donated plastic bottles,” Sylvia explains. “Although faux flowers aren’t new, and there are so many fabulous options out there, there isn’t anyone creating them from plastic bottles with the variety that I do.”

So who does Sylvia cater to? “The eco-warrior, the everpractical, the romantic, the quirky, the sentimental,” she says. “Those who know exactly what they want and those who haven’t a clue! Everything is handmade and can be tweaked to suit exactly what the customer wants.”

During lockdown, when weddings were on hold, Sylvia took orders for gifts for friends and family. “My flowers make perfect, everlasting reminders that someone loves and misses you,” Sylvia says. “I’ve also had a chance to experiment with new plastics; I can now offer mini brooch favours and cute mushroom garden ornaments.” Check out www.ecoblooms.net The team at The New Hobbit Hotel wedding venue decided to make a positive out of the most recent lockdown by giving the venue a gorgeous new look. “We have undergone appearance changes in the bar, restaurant and snug area,” says Max. “It’s now brighter and more contemporary. We’ve created a better flow around the building, making it an even more welcoming venue for weddings. Although lockdowns and restrictions have been hard for the hospitality sector, the team here are more than ready to get back to doing what we do best – especially with these delightful new changes.”

This beautiful country venue offers a flexible approach to weddings, with bespoke packages designed to the couple’s requirements. With a number of open days throughout the year, there’s plenty of opportunity to check out the venue’s new look in person. For more information, visit www.newhobbit.co.uk/weddings

A LITTLE TREAT

To celebrate its fourth anniversary, the talented team at The Pretty Little Treats Company have launched a range of beautiful and sustainable pamper gift sets – perfect for the bride-to-be or as gifts for the bridal party. Each set can be personalised and treats are selected to suit the recipient. What’s more, you can visit the company in person at its wonderful new shop at Springfield Mill in Denby Dale.

“Throughout the pandemic we’ve been offering our personalised gift sets for customers to show their loved ones that they care,” owner Vicky Woodger tells us. “They’re beautifully boxed and packaged with a personal message card. We also launched our home fragrance range, which includes wax melts and oil burners in our signature scents. They make lovely wedding favours and we’ll soon be adding more products to this range.” Check out www.prettylittletreats.co.uk

AT BESPOKE SAVANNAH WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON CUSTOMER SERVICE AND QUALITY OF WORK!

Every bride we work with will have a unique, tailored experience while having their dress altered by a skilled seamstress. From a small adjustment, to a one of bespoke piece, there is no limit to what we can create for your special day.

“What an amazing lady! Steph altered my wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl and MOB’s dress. I wanted quite a few things changing on my dress and Steph did a fantastic job of every change I asked for and made recommendations where needed. She made the whole process easy, fun and as special as it should be. I had more fittings than I can remember and I could have had more if I wanted, nothing is too much trouble. Steph even made the 60 minute round trip to come and get me into my dress on my wedding day! I can’t recommend this lady enough! Thank you!!!”
