Team and Leader Development Program COURSE OUTLINE


WELCOME

Congratulations on attending the Dyne Team and Leader Development Program. This experience was designed for professionals like you to provide exposure to key team building and leadership competencies with consideration of the challenges of leading in a complex and dynamic organization. This course outline brochure will provide you with information about what you can expect over the next few months including course overviews, learning outcomes, and any pre-module work requirements. Be sure to keep this brochure handy and follow along as your development journey takes place. There are two tracks within this development program: All Employees and People Managers & Next Generation. Feel free to read through the information about all the modules, however, please take some time to focus on the topics specific to your track. YOUR JOURNEY STARTS HERE

Following each program you will be provided access to the Digital Commons, which provides extra reading, videos, copies of your flip charts from the classroom, and the course materials to download. Embracing Mission & Objective Driven Accountability Learning what accountability means to each team member and what accountable behavior looks like in relation to Dyne’s mission and objectives. Objectives: ● Define team and personal accountability ● Differentiate between ownership and accountability ● Understand the barriers of workplace accountability ● Focus on building accountable leadership ● Identify the components of the cycle of accountability ● Learn how to avoid the ‘blame’ culture ● Identify individual and team accountability roles in relation to Dyne’s mission and objectives

People Managers & Next Generation Leaders

Coaching for Development & Managing Performance Challenges Understand the role of coaching and how it differs from mentoring, advising and teaching. Learn how to use a coaching process that involves the coachee and motivates them into action while using the art of coaching to uncover, highlight, and manage performance issues Objectives: • Discover what coaching is • Learn the quality and traits required of a good coach • Uncover key skills required to coach and tools available to help • Understand the application of a coaching model to drive a performance management conversation and help team members take accountability for their own performance issues

Building Trust Through Crucial Conversations A Crucial Conversation is a discussion between two or more people where the stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions run strong. When conversations turn crucial, people tend to follow one of two ineffective paths: they either speak directly and abrasively to get the results they want but harm relationships, or they remain silent with the hope of preserving relationships only to sacrifice results. Objectives: ● Explore crucial conversations required in the workplace ● Define the criteria for a successful conversation ● Understand the building-blocks of trust ● Learn how to hold a crucial conversation while creating a psychologically safe environment and climate of trust

People Managers & Next Generation Leaders

Assessing Performance Learn how to build a team, improve teamwork and collaboration, and sustain team performance through continuous learning and improvement, specifically by learning best practices for aligning individual towards key objectives and goals. Objectives: ● Understand the importance of consistent performance management ● Learn how to define employee goals, objectives and ambitions ● Examine the importance of consistent and constructive communication ● Learn the difference between written and verbal performance reports ● How to provide feedback that creates action ● Learn how to have difficult performance related conversations ● Use a meeting template to guide the discussion and capture key action items

Influencing without Authority Understand how to influence people across the organization, specifically when you have no positional power in relation to those individuals Objectives: ● Outlining the need to lead across boundaries ● Identifying the key players ● Exploring difficulties associated with leading without positional power ● Understand what decisions need to be made and identify the decision rights of each collaborator ● Dealing with conflict and process disagreements

The Art of Delegation Understand what delegation is and how it differs from assigning work or simply giving people tasks to work on. In addition, learning the skills to plan and hold a delegation conversation that helps the delegatee understand how the delegated task will help in their development Objectives: • Examine reasons why people do and do not delegate • Understand what delegation is and why it is important • Examine the four phases of delegation • Learn how to plan a delegation conversation

Embracing Change and Preparing for the Future Understand why change causes problems within teams and organizations and learn techniques to help self, other individuals, and teams approach change in a healthier manner Objectives: • Learn about different types of change and why they are necessary • Understand why change initiatives fail and begin to explore the leader’s role in sustaining change • Realize the importance of clear communication throughout and beyond the change process • Discover individual responses to change • Learn about change fatigue and the “Marathon Effect”
