Press Release The Canimambo Free Form Music and Arts Festival, 2013 “Free form is a work of art or a piece of music that has not been created according to a standard style or convention.” The Free Form Music Festival started out as a small heavy metal event in 2010. The idea came from Courtney Gibson, who happens to be the drummer for a band called Mizera and daughter of Canimambo Portuguese Restaurant owners Lance and Carla Gibson. Her plan is to boost the creativity of the locals in Graskop and to help promote all the unknown musicians in Africa. Courtney presented the idea of the festival to her band and to her family, who were all very willing to support. Canimambo not only hosted the entire event but also supplied it with funds, advertising and a great venue. Hence the Canimambo Free Form Music Festival was born! It became larger last year when the organizers introduced a variety of music to the festival. It had over 500 feet moving through the venue throughout the day/night. This year we plan on pushing the limits to the stars and making the fest bigger and better than it has ever been! The festival will begin on Saturday the 14th of December, 2013, at around 11am and carry on until the early hours of the following morning. The event is jam-packed with live bands, solo artists, food and drink specials, DJ’s, arts and craft stalls, fire dancers, mountain boarders and even a drumming circle for young and old to enjoy! No entrance fee will be asked. As Canimambo is very passionate about raising funds for Charities they introduced the Free Form Artists in Motion Competition. Artists will be painting throughout the day according to the theme “Music”. The public will vote for their favourite piece of work and the Artist with the most votes will receive a prize. The Art work will then be auctioned and all proceeds will be donated to the Emmanuel’s Family Home in Graskop. This year we present you with a line-up that will blow your mind!
