Earth Day 2023
from Spring Brochure
In light of the globally recognised Earth Day, we want to draw your attention to supporting environmental protection. The global initiative includes a wide range of events that involve 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. There are several benefits to using reclaimed furniture, including:
Environmentally friendly: Reclaimed furniture is an environmentally friendly option as it helps reduce the amount of waste in landfills and promotes sustainable use of resources.
Unique and stylish: Reclaimed furniture is often oneof-a-kind and can add character and personality to a space. It can also give a vintage or rustic feel to a room, which is currently a popular trend in interior design.
Durable and strong: Reclaimed wood, for example, is often stronger than new wood, as it has been seasoned and aged over time. It can also resist wear and tear better than new wood, making it a durable and longlasting option.
Cousins have also partnered with the British Heart Foundation and Clearabee to help customers have their furniture collected before delivery. Recycling old furniture is an essential part of diverting waste from landfill; also to create an opportunity to help your furniture find new homes. British Heart Foundation will then sell it in one of their 700+ charity shops throughout the UK. The proceeds from your furniture will then help fund towards life-saving research. So, not only will you have removed the old furniture from your home, but you will have helped towards a very worthy cause. This service is also free of charge. Our reclaimed wood ranges are popular and natural. More environmentally friendly than new wood, a lot of reclaimed furniture was previously used in barns, households, or businesses before being removed. The timber is then treated, refinished and renovated, keeping all of the original patina, marks and texture. Many of our reclaimed ranges are FSC certified. The FSC certification is considered the ‘gold standard designation for wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious, and economically viable.’
