CAMP

covenantharbor.org

DEAR PARENTS, This summer marks our 70th year of ministry! Through the years, Covenant Harbor has provided memorable age-appropriate and lifechanging summer camp programs for children and youth. These intentionally-designed programs allow campers a place to temporarily unwind and unplug from an ever technologically-connected society. While at camp, they build confidence as they learn the skill of archery or overcome a fear of heights on the high ropes course or learn how to encourage others and make lasting friendships with their peers. Invaluable life-skills are learned and personal development takes root during an experience at camp. In addition, every program shares a single mission — for our staff to love kids and share Jesus. Our summer staff are prayerfully and carefully chosen, and undergo extensive training before summer begins. Staff guide campers through growing in their faith, understanding God’s love, and what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus. Our entire staff looks forward to welcoming your campers this summer! Ray Warren Executive Director

Day Camp Day Campers love Covenant Harbor. From the moment they jump out of the car, day campers are welcomed into a whole new world of adventure, relationships, retreat and growth. They throw their backpacks on the hooks and start the day on the playground with friends. They look forward to the chance to swim, climb, go to arts and crafts or hike up to the tree swing.

grades every week of the summer and opportunities for 7th and 8th graders for a few weeks. We provide the best experience for every camper, and plan age-appropriate activities and lessons. For K-6 weeks, we create “teams” of campers in groups with K-2nd grades and 3rd6th grades, but there are plenty of times where everybody is together.

They can’t wait to hear the big idea in the session and sing their favorite song with the worship leader. They really can’t wait to visit the camp store. Before they know it, the day’s over. They’re back on the playground, waiting to get picked up so they can do it again tomorrow.

Campers thrive in our exciting daily structure, and every day is a little unique. While kids are trying out a new activity, talking with their counselor, winning a carpetball tournament, or eating lunch with friends, they’re learning about themselves, each other and God. Whether your camper comes for one week or many, they’re sure to grow and have a great time!

Day Camp is for campers in K-8th grades. We offer options for K-6th

KISHWAUKETOE We think that Kishwauketoe (Kish-wah-KEY-toe - or ’Kish’ for short) is the best overnight camp for kids in 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade. Here’s why: Kish is a great way to start overnight camps. Young campers get the best introduction to the camp experience. Whether it’s their first time or third, coming for part of a week or a whole week, campers are warmly welcomed into camp life at Kishwauketoe. We keep Kish intentionally small with just 45 campers at a time. Kish has its own space, so kids can navigate to their cabin, new relationships and new experiences easily. Our staff walks through this experience with their group of campers, building relationships with each kid and customizing their time with extra activities for the really energetic group or slowing down for those who need a bit more time. Kish is the best way to start out the camp experience and help get kids ready for Pier 30 after 3rd grade! Kids LOVE Kish. Kish is PACKED with things kids love. Campers get to be outside A LOT as they enjoy time on the waterfront, trying out adventure activities, classic campfires (and s’mores!), duck races, tree swing, carpetball, gaga ball, arts and crafts and so much more! Kish kids LOVE

getting to know their cabin mates and counselors, going to evening sessions in their PJs, choosing their favorite snack at the canteen and their favorite activity during free time. It really is a spectacular way for kids to spend their days during the summer. It’s beyond fun. Kids grow a ton at Kishwauketoe. Every activity, session and interaction helps kids learn more about themselves, others and Jesus. Kids get to try things at camp they don’t get to do anywhere else, while our staff help guide their experience. Our schedule and Bible program are age appropriate and engaging, so kids learn while having fun! We hope to see you at Kish this summer!

BASECAMP High school campers experience a classic overnight camp at BaseCamp. BaseCamp is distinct from other programs at Covenant Harbor in a few key ways: deeper teaching and discussion, unique challenges, and more freedom than younger campers. BaseCamp is built around the knowledge that high schoolers are often people in the midst of great personal change. The week is focused on learning about God’s plan for their future and who they are hoping to become, not just what they are doing now in high school. Filled with unique speakers and activities chosen just for this group, just for this time in their lives, BaseCamp is an opportunity to help them along in their journey.

The whole week is exciting, fun, and memorable, with campers getting to experience rock climbing, campfires, and time at the waterfront. All the favorite camp activities are available to BaseCamp campers along with options only offered this week and special lodging. In addition to a full schedule, we provide an experience that strengthens, encourages, and helps young people move closer to being the people they are uniquely made to be. Grades are based on the 2016-2017 school year. Come prepared to love it here, to be challenged, to meet new people, to learn more about yourself and what you are capable of, and the One who created you.

Grades 9-12 / Age 15+

ALPHA The Alpha program is a two-week experience focused on daily service. Alpha is for high schoolers who want to grow, develop relationships with peers and mentors, and work hard serving the ministry of Covenant Harbor. Alpha campers help make camp happen in areas like maintenance and food service, and every Alpha camper receives a letter certifying they have served 60 community hours upon completion of their session. While working, campers sweat, get sore and learn a lot, while also getting to know each other and our staff. In the midst of hard work, the value shines through, and they feel ownership over what they are doing and can actually see the mark they left on camp.

Of course, there’s also time in the Alpha schedule to play! All of our camp activities are open to campers at different times during their session (making playing in the lake all the sweeter after a couple hours of hard work). Alpha campers will get a ton of time to hang out with each other and our staff, with more freedom in their schedule than other campers. Many Alpha campers come back year after year because they love the experience, but also because of the relationships they build and the growth they achieve. Our college-age Alpha staff works alongside campers while guiding them through intentional times of learning, relevant Bible teaching and mentorship. Grades are based on the 2016-2017 school year and Alpha campers must be age 15+. Alpha is tough, but also wonderful, and by working hard and playing hard, Alpha campers walk away better for it!
