Kyle is a Northern Ireland Under-21 internationalist and joined the Easter Road side this summer from Rangers, where he gained experience in their Under-18 and B teams, and featured in the UEFA Youth League. He also turned out for Rangers B when Cove beat them 5-1 in the SPFL Trust Trophy in November 2021.

The twenty-year old central defender made his Hibernian debut in July in a Premier Sports Cup win over Clyde, played in two further cup-ties, and earned his first Premiership appearance against Livingston last month. He feels Cove could be an ideal platform for him to take the next step in his career:

“I’d been out on loan with Falkirk before, went up against Cove, and liked how they played. I’m the sort of defender who likes having the ball at his feet, I’m happy to play out, but also to do the defending, the dirty work. “It was good to make my debut last week; it’s up to me to try to get a regular place in the team.”

The manager believes both youngsters have many attributes that will serve the club well in the season ahead:

“Like the other young players I have signed, Max and Kyle will have the chance to learn from the excellent professionals we have here, experienced guys like Mitch Megginson, Fraser Fyvie, Iain Vigurs and Mark Reynolds.

“They give me more strength in depth, and options from the bench, which is what all managers are looking for.”

Jim has now made seven signings since taking over at Balmoral, the new boys joining Gerry McDonagh, Evan Towler, Luis Longstaff, Cieran Dunne and Charlie Gilmour at the club.
