As a pioneer in the pet couture world, Anthony was among the first to bring dog fashion to the runway, which has earned him the title of the Master Pet Couturier. Indeed, it would be unfair to speak of modern dogfashion, without mentioning Rubio.

But, who is Anthony Rubio, and what is his story, exactly? We reached out to Rubio's team to learn more, and this is what we'vediscovered.

Born and raised in New York City, of Puerto Rican descent, Anthony Rubio studied fashion at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. After rescuing a Chihuahua, by thename of Bandit, in 2002, he started designing outfits for him. And, by 2003, Bandit Rubio designs was established. After Bandit passed away, the company's name was changed to Anthony Rubio Designs.

Rubio has done full production runway shows since 2008. And, in 2012, he became the first pet fashion designer to showcase at the New York Fashion Week. Since then, he haspresented twice a year.

Rubio's creations are all couture and considered collectible art, by many. His designs are inspired by everything— from movies and fairy tales, to the best of women’shaute couture.

“His masterpieces are born from an almost maniacal obsession to achieve perfection stemming from hours of sketching, and innovating new shapes and forms. Then, they're meticulously executed, and completedonly when Rubio is completely satisfied with the final product.”

As an advocate for pet adoption, Rubio created “Adopt Me Maybe?” pet campaign, inan an effort to promote shelter pet adoption. Bogie and Kimba, his pups, and muses, were the poster boys for the campaign.

Rubio is also on the boards of severalfundraising organizations, and was recently honored, and awarded, by The Humane Society, for his humanitarian efforts in championing animal adoption. To learn more, visit his profile @anthonyrubio01.
