Following the release of their EP, ‘Excellent People’, and sold out performances across the country, supporting Aussie punk royalty Beddy Rays, Dune Rats, Bad//Dreems, Private Function and Press Club, Radolescent has released a fi ery new single ‘Tough’.
Led by country-inspired slide guitar meets punk rhythm, their new single further establishes the band’s unique and creative prowess.
“‘Tough’ in essence, is a song akin to the feeling of someone close to you becoming a stranger right before your eyes - a probing sense that maybe they weren’t the person you thought they were, and you weren’t the person they hoped you were either, “ says the band.
Working with Brisbane based engineer and producer, Brock Weston (Bugs and Electric Zebra), this new single was fi rst tested out at their live shows.
“The crowd’s reaction was super positive so we decided to record it alongside our previous single ‘Pity Party’,” said lead vocalist and guitarist, Isaac Atkinson.
Showcasing their creative spark and versatility in creating songs that punch you in the gut, their new single is the result of bass guitarist Lachlan Barker. After writing what was a somewhat country-esk vibe of a song, Lachlan brought the tune to the rest of the band and was converted into a full- blown rock song; an application of big drums, power chords and a beautiful slide guitar.
Racking up a massive fan base has already given the band half a million streams across Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube, and on Triple J, Rebel FM and 4ZZZ.

JET CITY SPORTS CLUB
Sydney quartet Jet City Sports Club has unveiled their shimmering indie pop tune ‘Green Thumb’. Lead vocalist, Lilla Obradovic uses witty metaphors to illustrate how easily we can abandon relationships, and this new release further establishes Jet City Sports Club as one of Sydney’s premier fresh indie-pop voices.
“I started writing ‘Green Thumb’ one afternoon when I looked around my apartment and realised I only had one houseplant that was still alive. So, I suppose I started thinking, ‘I hope I don’t neglect relationships like I do my plants!’
“Our guitarist, Jack O’Connor is really good at bringing light summery, anthemic themes with fun, catchy riffs into our music. We just built on that before taking it to the rehearsal studio and our Producer, Fletcher Matthews,” says Lilla.
‘Green Thumb’ is comparable to the long-time pioneers of indie sound, The Sundays, but with a unique Australian edge similar to their contemporaries The Buoys and Teenage Joans. Slicing through the sun-kissed vibes of Lilla’s vocals is Sebastian de Haas’ bass and Dominic Maher’s drum, and fi nally with Jack’s perfectly executed layer of guitar throughout the song that ties it all together.
“Usually Jack and I will come up with the initial lyrics and chords of a song separately and then we will take the new song to band practice where we will fl esh out new riffs and structure,” says Lilla.
Having recently supported Hayley Mary, The Grogans, Planet and Annie Hamilton, the band will be back on the road playing their new single and tracks from their EP in NSW and Melbourne. The band will also be supporting The Vanns for their shows on NSW’s Far North Coast.
“As we build our audience and following, we love taking new music on the road and meeting new people,” says the band.

OLY SHERMAN
Sydney’s Oly Sherman has delivered another blissful hit of indie-soul music in ‘Taste’. Driven by an insatiable bassline and addictive vocals, it’s a fresh insight into more new music to come.
Recorded at Sherman’s home studio, ‘Taste’ has been a project that the artist worked on with engineer Daniel Natoli. The sound is all-encompassing in its warm tone and texture. “After around eight months of making new music, the idea with ‘Taste’ was to make something that people could dance to. The song is honestly about being grateful and to just enjoy life,” says Oly.
Sherman’s versatility and strength as a songwriter is revealed in this album, Land Of All Pretend, while also pointing to the energy he was harnessing towards future projects. Vocal hip hop, Yawdoesitall, is back with his most confi dent and urgent release yet: G.Y.M.
The track ‘G.Y.M.’ channels Yaw’s pent-up energy in a way that speaks to everyone who is hustling to elevate and materialise happiness for themselves and their community.
Recorded during a lockdown in his home studio in Sydney, Yaw describes the single as “a track that almost didn’t make it.” Yet, listening through each passionate bar, it feels up there with some of Yaw’s hardest records to date.
“G.Y.M. is about going for it. It’s about materialism and happiness combined. G.Y.M. means soft life, but sometimes we have to jump through hoops to get it. This is my rise up song for whenever there’s a feeling of defeat.”

BOYSNLOVE
Mixing angst-pop melodies with low fi delity and vibrant instrumentals, BoysnLove have made a mark for themselves across Sydney and Wollongong.
Performing alongside the likes of Middle Kids, Tia Gostelow and Tyne-James Organ, the quartet have emerged as Australian front-runners for emotional and raw indie-pop. New single, ‘Honeymoon Diver’, combines the delicate and fraught vocals of singer and songwriter Annie-Rose Collis. The song of heartbreak and betrayal sets the band up for an electrifying 2022, with more music on the horizon.
The new single examines loss and longing from an alternative perspective. The song is inspired by the true story of Tina Watson, a woman drowned to death by her husband on their honeymoon. This struck vocalist Annie-Rose deeply and inspired her lyrical prouse throughout the song. Acclaimed Sydney singer-songwriter-collaborator Blain Cuneen (Julia Jacklin, Dominic Breen) worked with BoysnLove shaping the song from the initial musings of Annie-Rose’s grief-stricken mind to the fi nal single heard today.
“Boysnlove songs always start from my heartbreak. It’s the reason why I write - to get my feelings out. I write the words, then Eddie, the band’s Bass, focuses on the structure of the songs from my words. Holly, our drummer, creates the tone and vibe of the song and Georgia makes everything sound great,” says Annie-Rose.
The band worked with Molly Haddon (Sydney Film Festival) on the music video. In the video, Annie-Rose plays the bride with her new beau on their honeymoon. He disappears as Annie-Rose is seen changing sheets, scrubbing the bathroom and removing any trace of his blood.
An intricate and emotive track ,‘Honeymoon Diver’ sets the tone that carries a delicate topic through a winding path of fear, hindsight and loss. Sydney electronic dance band Art vs Science have released their long-awaited new album ‘Big Overdrive’. The vibepacked record, written and recorded over the past decade includes their recent dancefl oor-ready single ‘I Saw You’, ARIA club hit ‘SWEAT’ and new single ‘Check The Boombox’.
ART VS SCIENCE
Rich in melodies, synth stabs and classic Art vs Science experimentation, ‘Big Overdrive’ is a collection of songs that captures the heights of the trio as a groundbreaking alternative dance band, pushing musical boundaries with crafted multi-layered bangers.
Sonically, ‘Big Overdrive’ lives and breathes in a way that can be played live to an intimate club audience or to a festival crowd. It’s also a celebration of the band’s longevity performing together for fi fteen years. The music was recorded in studios all around Sydney, with a heavy emphasis on DIY. The bulk of the album was tracked at band member Dan McNamee’s parents’ place using a handful of microphones and a bucketload of vibe.
“In the course of selecting the music for this long awaited album, some of these rare sessions were uncovered, and the joy and fun embedded within were plain to hear. Of course, lots of love and expertise came from actual outside experts such as Kim Moyes (The Presets), Alex Gooden (Mix Engineer, SAFIA), Sam Ford (Tone City Records), Joe La Porta (Mastering, Sterling Sound), and Guy Davies (Mastering, Electric Mastering),” says vocalist, Jim Finn.
“‘Big Overdrive’ is a celebration of jamming and making music which is fun, different and experimental, with an emphasis on songs which are beautiful in their weirdness.”
Art vs Science will be returning to the festival stage playing at the Caloundra Music Festival late September, and playing along bands like Flight Facilities and Lime Cordiale at Wine Machine Food, Wine and Music Festival in December.
