OILING (Fig. 2)

Oil the machine every day throughly after finishing working according to (Fig.2), and run the machine for 1-2 minutes.

Fig. 2 TRIAL RUN When the machine left out of operation for a quite long time and used again, remove the red rubber plug on top of the machine head, oil it throughly, then lift the presser foot and run at a low speed of 1000~1500spm, observe the sparkling condition through oil window . As the lubrication is well, keep the running test at the low speed about 30 minutes, then increase the speed gradually, after months running to perfect its performance. Then increase up to roper sewing speed.

INSTALLING THE NEEDLE Turn the balance wheel to lift the needle bar to its highest point, loosen needle set screw, making the needle groove turn to the left side of an operator, fully insert the needle shank up to the bottom of needle socket, then tighten needle set screw.

COORDINATION AMONG THE NEEDLE, THE THREAD AND THE MATERIAL (Fig. 3) For needle thread left-hand twist thread should be used and for bobbin thread, both left and right could be used. To identify the handedness of the thread, pinch the thread like Fig. 9 shows, twist the thread with right hand to the direction as the arrow shows, if the strand gets tight with the twist, left-hand twist it is, otherwise right-hand twist. DDĂ—1 type Nm 25 needle should be used. The thickness of the needle should be suitable for the materials. If a very thin needle is used to sew heavy duty materials, the needle is easily to be broken, ship stitching and thread broken could also be resulted. In contrast, if a very thick needle is used, damage might be caused to the materials for the too big needle holes. So suitable needle should be choose according to the character of threads.

Fig. 3

THREADING THE NEEDLE THREAD (Fig. 4)

Thread the needle thread following (Fig. 4.)

Fig. 4 BOBBIN WINDER ADJUSTMENT (Fig. 5) Bobbin thread should be orderly and tight. If the bobbin thread is too loose, increase the pressure of disc A. If the bobbin thread is not orderly, adjust the position of thread passing rack C. To adjust, loosen screw B, if the bobbin thread is like picture (b) in the pictures below, move the thread passing rack to the right side; if like picture (c), to the left side. Till the bobbin thread is like picture (a), retighten the screw. Note.: Thread pressure should be decreased when winding polyester or nylon thread, otherwise the bobbin D will be broken or become out of shape. Bobbin thread should not be too full, otherwise thread will get off the bobbin because of too loose. Proper bobbin thread quantity should be 80% of the full bobbin thread. Bobbin thread winding quantity is adjustment by adjusting the screw E.

Fig. 5 6) ADJUSTING THE STITCH LENGTH (Fig. Fig.6) Loosen screw (A) , rotate stitch length adjusting connecting lever pin (B). Rotate (B) clockwise: forward stitch length is increased reverse stitch is decreased Rotate (B) anti-clockwise: forward stitch length is decreased reverse stitch is increased

Fig. 6 -4-

7) ADJUSTING THE PRESSURE OF PRESSER FOOT (Fig. Fig.7) Pressure on presser foot is to be adjusted in accordance with materials to be sewn. Loosen lock nut A. If heavy materials to be sewn, turn pressure regulating thumb screw clock wise as shown (a) to increase the pressure. While light materials to be sewn, turn the pressure regulating thumb screw counter clockwise as shown in (b) to decrease the pressure on presser foot, then tighten lock nut A.

The pressure of presser foot is proper as the sewing materials can be fed normally.

Fig. 7

ADJUST THE THREAD TENSION (Fig. 8) In general, the thread tension is to be adjust in accordance with material thread and others. In practice, the thread tension is adjusted according to the stitches resulted to get the normal stitches. When adjusting the bobbin thread tension, turn bobbin case tension spring screw A clock wise for more tension or turn the screw counter clockwise for less tension. It is a common practice to check the bobbin thread tension. If the bobbin case falls down slowly the proper tension is obtained. The needle thread tension should be adjusted with reference to the bobbin thread tension. The needle thread tension can be range of the thread take up spring tension of tension disc and the position of thread guide.

Fig. 8

TIMING BETWEEN THE NEEDLE AND THE ROTATING SHUTTLE (Fig.9 and Fig. 10) (1) Adjusting the position of needle bar turn the balance wheel to locate the needle bar at its lowest position, then turn the balance wheel and make the needle bar move upward by 4.5mm. At this time, the hook tip should be higher than the needle eyelet about 1.5mm, (Fig. 9). (2) Distance between groove of the needle and hook tip should be 0.05mm, (Fig. 10). (3) To adjust the height of the needle, loosen the needle bar connecting shaft screw, move the needle upward and downward by hand to get the required height, then retighten the screw.
