Though there is a relatively short history of 15 years of Registered Holsteins at Double-D Dairy in Ceres, CA, Dominic Assali has already made a splash in the business. In the decade after receiving his degree in Dairy Science at Cal Poly and returning home to join his grandparents, Harold & Marlene Agresti, in operating Double D Dairy, he has already marked off a few accomplishments that can take a lifetime.

Those accomplishments include breeding a #1 genomic type bull in the breed - Agresti Dannys Dream. The Doorman son out of an EX-92 Atwood daughter initially topped the list at +4.35T, and was purchased by ST Genetics. Behind the Atwood are four more Excellent dams, including Snow-N Denises Dellia EX-95 GMD. After several proof runs, Dannys Dream still carries an impressive +3.29T number, and his first-crop of daughters are beginning to calve. A full sister to Dannys Dream had a King Doc daughter - Agresti Doc Dymond-ET EX-91 EX-92-MS - who had an initial genomic type number of +4.43, and today at four years of age, is still +4.09T. This actual classification score combined with her high genomic type prediction verify that the planned mating resulted in an outstanding individual. Another outstanding individual carrying the Agresti prefix is Agresti Absolute Pure-Red-ET EX-95. An Absolute out of an EX-91 Red Tunnel-

Red daughter, Pure-Red encapsulates the ‘getting better with age’ quote. Scored VG-86 as a 2-year-old, the Agresti’s formed a partnership with Gilbert Teixeira when Pure was a 3-years-old to help with her further development. She emerged on the show scene as the Reserve AllCalifornia 4-Year-Old in 2019, and has claimed more titles in the years since. In 2021, Pure-Red was the All-California Aged Cow, and Grand Champion of the California State Red & White Show. Following those wins, she attained the rare score of EX-95. Her top record to date is 4-09 2x 365d 34,240 4.4% 1501 3.5 1192, and she already has a Very Good-85 Blake daughter. More Recently, at the 2022 California State Holstein Show, Double D Dairy bred the All-California 4-Year-Old. Agresti Dream Laurie EX-92. She is the result of a mating that holds the Agresti prefix from top to bottom with the sire being Agresti Dannys Dream. Double D Dairy currently milks about 5,700 cows and have a rolling herd average of 34,471 pounds of energy corrected milk. That admirable herd average played a prominent role in the Agresti’s being twice recognized as a Holstein USA Herd of Excellent (in 2015 & 2017). Dominic is forever grateful for the many friendships and partnership that the “Holstein Cow” has provided for him. Every day, he enjoys working alongside his Grandparents, Wife Nicole, Manuel Botelho and George Costa. Dominic hopes to pass his love for dairy cattle to is daughter Blaire and future generations to come. Dominic is on the Clover Sonoma the Advisory Committee, and is continuing to pursue success in an ever-changing California dairy industry.

Agresti Dream Laurie (EX-92) is the 2022 All-California 4-Year-Old and combines the Dellia and Laurie Sheik families in her pedigree.
