ANTI-AGEING
There are two major types of cosmetic injections used for wrinkle treatment to improve cosmetic appearance - injectable muscle relaxants and injectable dermal fillers. These can be used together or in isolation in the treatment of facial wrinkles. The best treatment for you will depend on the area being treated and the severity of the wrinkle, both of which vary from individual to individual.
INJECTABLE DERMAL FILLERS
Injectable dermal fillers are used to treat static wrinkles. Injectable dermal fillers are placed beneath the wrinkle and/or fold to ‘fill in’ or ‘plump up’ the depression. The areas most commonly treated with dermal fillers include frown, smile and lip lines. Injectable dermal fillers can also be used to create volume and a 3D sculpting of the face such as cheek bones, eye rejuvenation, lip augmentation and nose correction. The body, hands and décolletage are commonly treated areas. The injectable dermal filler is a smooth gel made of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body which stabilises the skin structure, attracts and binds water, and contributes to the elastic properties of the skin that allow it to remain tight. Injections of hyaluronic acid into the skin are thought to replenish its natural support structures damaged by ageing. Poly-L-lactic acid is another option to improve areas of the skin with volume loss. It promotes an increase in skin thickness in the areas treated and therefore helps lift and smooth sagging skin, severe wrinkles, creases, dark circles and scars. This can help you look years younger - from giving the appearance of a ‘mini facelift’, to smoothing folds and
creases - without the risks of surgery. Dermal fillers are administered through a few injections and have a high comfort level due to the advanced pain relief technology now available.
INJECTABLE MUSCLE RELAXANTS
Injectable muscle relaxants are used to treat dynamic wrinkles and work by relaxing the muscles that cause people to frown or squint, creating an improved appearance. Once the muscle is relaxed, you cannot contract it and continue to make the undesirable facial expression. Thus, the cosmetic injections gradually smooth wrinkles and prevent wrinkles from forming again. After facial injection it takes 2 to 3 days for the treatment to begin taking effect and around 7-14 days to see the full effect. Treatment effects can last up to 4 months. Injectable muscle relaxants are also used to treat hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) in areas such as armpits, hairlines, under breasts, groin, palms of hands and soles of feet. Lipolysis or Lipodissolve is a non surgical medical procedure that involves the injection of a compound called phosphatidylcholine into small localised fat deposits to dissolve fat.
Phosphatidylcoline (PPC) is a naturally occurring enzyme and is the main component of soy lecithin. Lecithin has been medically proven to have the ability to break down fat and reduce cholesterol. A non invasive alternative to surgical procedures such as liposuction, lipolysis helps you to sculpt and contour areas of the body and the face like the jowls and double chin. Platelet Rich Plasma is the latest technology in skin rejuvenation, using cells derived from your blood, that are then re-injected into the skin to stimulate collagen and new skin cells. We use your own cells so there is no risk of allergy. It will increase collagen and thicken your skin to give a firmer, younger looking skin we all desire. Patients with dark, light or tanned skin can experience outstanding results with minimal downtime. Sclerotherapy has been used for the treatment of unwanted leg veins for many years in Europe. Upon thorough consultation by our vein specialist, you may be required to have an ultrasound assessment and vein mapping of the larger veins in your legs, looking for reflux or reverse flow. Veins are then injected with a sclerosing solution which causes the vein walls to become sticky, and the vein contracts. Over a period of weeks the vein gradually closes and any remaining blood is absorbed by the body.

Photodamage, caused by the sun’s harmful rays, is the main cause of fine lines, wrinkles and age spots/sun spots and discolouration. Additionally the inevitable ageing process also causes collagen and elastin to break down, making the skin lose resilience resulting in fine lines, wrinkles and sagging. Your genetic history may also make you more prone to the effects of ageing skin, rosacea or acne.
SKIN HEALTH
COZmedics offer skin cancer management and prevention treatment options. Our Doctors specialise in skin cancer screening, dermatologic surgery, digital dermoscopy, scar management and the latest non-surgical modalities of skin cancer treatment. Radiosurgery is a procedure performed to remove raised lesions on the skin. It utilises radio frequency energy in a controlled manner to cosmetically remove a variety of lesions including moles, seborrhoeic keratoses and skin tags to name just a few. Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) PDT is a revolutionary non invasive procedure that delivers both a medical and cosmetic outcome treating pre cancerous, superficial BCC’s, pigmentation and sun damage to arms, legs, torso and face. A naturally occurring lotion is applied to the affected area. Once absorbed by the damaged cells a customised light source is focused on the area. When exposed to the light, the abnormal cell are destroyed to reveal new, fresh healthy skin cells. Though there are obvious cosmetic benefits to the use of Photodynamic
therapy, this treatment may also have long term skin health benefits as an annual preventative measure to treat and inhibit further sun-damage. PDT can be used to treat a range of conditions including sunpots, acne, psoriasis and rosacea. Rosacea is a common condition, but it is also misunderstood and incorrectly treated. One of the biggest myths surrounding rosacea is that it’s purely a cosmetic concern. Rosacea is actually an inflammatory disorder - a medical condition that responds to prescriptive and laser therapies available at COZmedics. Acne is a very common problem and describes anything from occasional pimples, blackheads or whiteheads to more serious large cystic and painful swellings.
