Denmark wants to rebrand part of Sweden as 'Greater Copenhagen' Denmark hopes incorporating southern Swedish region of Skåne will gain the region more business and visitors. “Size matters,” says Frank Jensen, mayor of Copenhagen and a champion of the project. Copenhagen is a small capital city but with a well known name internationally, he says. “As Greater Copenhagen we can show it is something special – it is about creating a common identity that the entire region can get behind, and the Skåne region will also strengthen its position by profiling itself in this way.” The Danes call it a collaboration and are counting on Swedish support. Growth in east Denmark and south Sweden is significantly lower than in competing cities such as Stockholm, Amsterdam or Hamburg, notes an official Danish document setting out a vision of Greater Copenhagen as a European metropolis, with the “international clout” to become a magnet for investment and innovation. “Together we will have 3.8 million people, 11 universities with 150,000 students and many PhDs, so we will come up as an interesting place to locate your European or Scandinavian HQ,” says Jensen. The two sides make a good fit. Denmark’s capital is overcrowded, corporate and expensive, while Malmö, Sweden’s third city across the water, has spare capacity, is relatively cheap, and has more of an enterprise economy.

But Swedes feel somewhat ambiguous about being nominally subsumed by their Danish neighbours. “I do not feel in the current situation that we are prepared to leave Malmö behind,” the city’s social democratic mayor, Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh, said. “Skåne is comparable to San Francisco’s Bay Area in terms of its food, wine, creative industries and science,” Johansson says, “and the Scandinavia Bay Area has the advantage of being a more neutral name, and more easily accepted in southern Sweden.

‘Ouishare': Sharing and Collaborative network Work as we know is being profoundly transformed at an ever increasing speed. This holds great opportunities and risks: the good news is that robots will soon do routine work for us, but the bad news is that the loss of these jobs could increase in social tensions, especially in underdeveloped countries. What will happen to work after the 4th industrial revolution? This is a key topic that will be explored at OuiShare Fest 2016
The word ‘sharing’ is becoming a new buzz word of our time. Almost all nations of the world are developing new sets of social political frameworks using digital technologies. OuiShare Fest 2016 is one of those initiatives from Paris, France that fosters exchange of knowledge to create meaningful value for the people, planet and projects. The event runs for three days, and this year it is being held at “The Village” of the Cabaret Sauvage in Paris. One of the key hallmarks of the festival was to accelrate three incredible open source projects involving the attendees and experts. Ouishare team has carefully selected three projects among many applicants to receive the feedback from experts and attendees of the FEST. The goal was to leverage the participants’ collective intelligence to help the projects have a more positive impact. Pioneers and settlers this May embarks on a journey to step out of their comfort zone and connect with others dedicated to driving systemic change. DISCOVER THE PROJECTS Low Tech Lab is a collaborative research platform about low technologies. It aims to build a worldwide community of inventors who create and share knowledge in areas such as energy and nutrition. Part-up is a platform for matching people to temporary teams. It helps participants to find and build the best tribe from within or without the boundaries of organizations. It promotes decentralization and bottom-up collaboration for start-ups, communities and companies. Science4Sustainability is a platform that helps to link science and business. It connects experts and scientists to social entrepreneurs by promoting their stories online. MAKING SENSE OF TECHNOLOGY In the end, neither the technology nor the disruption that comes with it is a magical force over which humans have no control. All of us are responsible for guiding its evolution, in the decisions we make on a daily basis, we all are economical agents as citizens, consumers, producers, investors, educators and entrepreneurs. As Esko Kilpi, says that “work that humans do used to be a role, now it is a task, but it is going to be a relationship". The mission is to see action within relationships.”
