THE HOME OF DANISH DESIGN

The one and only design hotel created from tip to toe by Arne Jacobsen, a testament to Danish modernism and a coming-home moment for Scandinavian style savants.

When the redesign of the iconic SAS Royal Hotel took place in 2018 under the direction of Space Copenhagen, one question led the process: What would Arne do? As Jacobsen’s most all-encompassing and influential body of work, and the first skyscraper to make a dent in the Copenhagen skyline, the hotel offers an exclusive entry point into local culture.

The revamped 261 rooms and suites feature iconic pieces like the Egg, Swan and Drop chairs reupholstered in fresh fabrics. An ode to Danish craftsmanship, the hotel’s five signature suites are each dressed in iconic furniture, lamps and accessories to honor the designs of Cecilie Manz, Poul Kjaerholm and Arne Jacobsen. Collectively, they represent the importance of design in the Danish capital.

DESIGNED FOR ALL SENSES

Downstairs, the chic, street-side dining spot is open to guests and locals, and is known for its charcoal-grilled specialties and afternoon tea inspired by the works and colors of Arne Jacobsen. It won’t surprise at all, then, that at the bar drinks are named after Denmark’s design heavyweights, attracting an in-the-know local crowd during afterhours.
