Code of Conduct Welcome to the Communications Technology Class at SJA. This course is a technology course where a student learning is achieved by the completion of practical projects integrating many curricular disciplines. Students will do most of their work in the computer lab or studio area all of which are located in the school. Questions are encouraged and commitment to the task at hand is required to be successful. Students are exposed to expensive equipments and software. As with all technology classes there are policies and procedures that must be observed for acceptable use of the facilities. Students taking the Communications Technology course must review these policies with their parent/guardian and sign to agree to these terms. By submitting this form the student agrees to these terms and understands the consequences associated by not adhering to the policies and procedures: •

Be on Time with Proper Uniform ‐ arrive and be seated prior to the second bell. Proper uniform is required at all times. Additional clothing, that is not part of the uniform, is not welcome. Since the class and studio have equipment that generates heat, the climate system tends to be cooler. Students who feel cold in class should wear clothing under the uniform to Keep Backpacks in Your Locker or at the Front of the Class – due to security issues, it is advised that students leave their backpacks in their locker. If a backpack is brought to class, it must be stored at the front of the class. The teacher is not responsible for any items damage or loss if brought to the class. PEDs are Forbidden ‐ see SJA Student Agenda for further clarification on the board wide policy of PEDs. Students listening to music or creating projects with sound must have proper ear/headphones so they do not disturb others. No Food or Drink ‐ this includes water and gum. These items are hazardous to the electronics in the classroom and studio area that could jeopardize health and safety. No Gaming, Hotmail, Electronic Social Networking, or Portable Applications ‐ students using the computers/printers for purposes other than Comm Tech related work, during class time, will have their computer accounts revoked. Student must review and understand the School’s Computer Policy as seen in the SJA Student Agenda. Other Class Assignments/Homework ‐ students are also asked not to complete other course’s work in the Comm Tech class; this includes studying for tests or homework. Respect Your Own and Other's Life Space ‐ Respect each other's cultures, genders, disabilities, and personalities. No foul language, or other remarks/gestures by any motivation. On occasion students might be out of class to collect images or shoot video assignments. Failure to stay on task will result in student being restricted to class only for future work. Do not use images or videos of students, staff, or teachers without completing a Talent/Model Release signed and dated with their permission. Misuse of Facilities ‐ the equipment/software in Comm Tech is for the exclusive use to Comm Tech projects/assignments. Students are not permitted to use the equipment for other assignments for other courses or personal use. Students are expected to create projects that are appropriate to the moral tone of a Catholic School Environment. Students will report any damages or broken equipment to the teacher. Students are expected in treat the equipment with respect and not let others outside of our class use at any time.
Violations of any of the above policies and procedures will be noted and reported to the Main office for further action.
