Dear Registrars THE CENTRAL APPLICATION CLEARING HOUSE 2022 This circular serves to inform Registrars that the Central Application Clearing House (CACH) learner sign-up service will be operational from Monday, 24 January 2022 to 31 March 2022, as a referral system for unsuccessful applicants. The CACH will provide unsuccessful applicants with access to career development services and where possible, an opportunity to access spaces still available within the universities, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges or any Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) learnerships, without having to travel to institutions to try and find a space. It also works to ensure that students do not become victims of bogus institutions. During 2022, the CACH service applicants will be required to register and capture their details including the field of study and programme choice, as well as accept and reject offers on the CACH system. Registrars are kindly requested to assist in ensuring that CACH 2022 is effectively implemented. The CACH service presents an opportunity to avoid crowding at institutions and assists in complying with government protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic. All institutions are also requested to inform unsuccessful applicants that they should sign-up with CACH for referral services to increase their chances of finding a space at an alternate post-school education and training (PSET) institution or to receive career advice. CACH will only refer unsuccessful applicants to other PSET institutions once they have signed up. The applicants should sign up to CACH via the WhatsApp Chabot (078 776 8660), USSD (*134*225#) or sign-up online at cach.ac.za. Applicants can also find out more on our Facebook page which is CACH_SA. As in past years, all public universities, TVET colleges and SETAs will be given direct access to the CACH database via the website (self-service portal). Applicant information drawn from the CACH must be treated with the same level of confidentiality as that of your direct applicants. The Registrar is responsible for ensuring that all staff entrusted with access to the system respect this requirement. We kindly request that each institution completes the accompanying access form and nominates an individual who will act as a direct liaison officer between the Department and institution, as well as being the super user of the system. The details of the nominee must be completed on the attached system access form and forwarded to Matshiane.T@dhet.gov.za on or before 17 January 2022. This person will be given the credentials (login name and password for self-service) within two days from the date of receipt of the access form. These credentials will be used to access the CACH portal to retrieve application information or add other users for the institution. We look forward to your cooperation in the successful implementation of CACH 2022. Yours sincerely
