MEDIA RELEASE Friday, 18th May, 2007

Experience focus for Tourism Forum Tourism operators in Tasmania’s North West will be focusing on providing visitors with exceptional experiences in Tasmania’s North West, at the Cradle Coast Authority’s annual regional tourism forum in September. The ‘X' Factor – It’s all about the eXperience will highlight the latest research on visitor travel preferences and feature speakers from around Tasmania and interstate, regarded leaders in their field. The Authority’s tourism development manager Ian Waller said delegates would hear how tourism entrepreneurs had transformed local food and wine, cultural heritage and nature into high-yield visitor experiences. He said the City of Devonport would host this year’s event, expected to attract more than 150 delegates. Mayor Lynn Laycock said Devonport was excited by the opportunity to showcase the city. “To be able to showcase Devonport as an excellent host destination is an exciting opportunity for our city and I have no doubt that the tourism industry delegates attending the forum will be impressed by what they experience," Alderman Laycock said. People wishing to register for the conference can contact the Authority on 03 6431 6285.
