A. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The position is part of a Facilitator Team which is responsible for the delivery of community based projects and activities in the Cradle Coast Region. The position is required to deliver the community skills, knowledge and education activities. The position would be responsible for the identification and delivery of capacity building activities for community groups and educational awareness activities for schools and youth organisations. The position also includes the planning and implementation of community on ground works and the facilitation of training, monitoring activities and technical advice. The position will assist in the development and delivery of incentive and devolved grants programs that may include practical components such as project identification, development and supervision of third parties in the delivery of on ground works.

C. KEY COMMUNICATIONS Internal This role involves important interaction with all staff within the Cradle Coast Authority, particularly the small Natural Resource Management team and requires close working relationships and a cooperative approach to achieve the best outcomes. Effective and timely communication will be a vital component of this role. The position will act for and on behalf of Cradle Coast Natural Resource Management and the Cradle Coast Authority as required and it will be necessary at times to attend meetings, workshops and briefing sessions as a representative of the organisation. External The incumbent will have a significant level of direct interaction with the community and external customers, and relationships founded on a high standard of confidence and customer care must be maintained. Regular interaction with government agencies and other service providers will also form part of the role.

E. SELECTION CRITERIA The following criteria are provided to assist in the identification of a potential incumbent’s skills, knowledge and experience required for competent performance in the position. Essential Criteria • Environmental management, science, natural resource management qualifications (or similar) and/or relevant natural resource management experience • Proven ability to identify and develop projects and a clear understanding and/or experience of project management processes • Understanding and appreciation of community based natural resource management issues in the Cradle Coast region • Knowledge and experience of educational program delivery • High level oral, written, interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and disseminate information effectively • Demonstrated networking and facilitation skills and ability to work effectively with, and within, a diverse range of client groups • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously or as part of a small team • Driving Licence Desirable Criteria • On-ground technical experience/skills relevant to natural resource management • Current first aid certificate

F. CORPORATE ENVIRONMENT Context Cradle Coast NRM is hosted by the Cradle Coast Authority. The Cradle Coast Authority facilitates the sustainable development of the region through the coordination of natural resource management, tourism, health, education, local government service and other regional-level projects. Cradle Coast Natural Resource Management is one of 56 regional bodies set up around Australia, and operates under the Tasmanian Natural Resource Management Act 2002, which recognises regional Natural Resource Management Committees and requires the development and maintenance of a Regional Natural Resource Management Strategy. The strategy guides the prioritisation and implementation of Natural Resource Management activities within the region. Reporting relationships The position reports to the Operations Manager, NRM. The position of Facilitator is not directly responsible for the supervision of any other staff position but is required to manage/supervise project proponents (internal or external) as appropriate.

Challenges A key challenge will be to deliver a balanced and integrated program of activities across a diverse range of community groups. The incumbent will be expected to adopt a flexible approach to work requirements and undertake new or alternative duties as required. A professional image of Cradle Coast Natural Resource Management and the Cradle Coast Authority must be projected in all dealings and at all times. The position involves significant liaison and communication across all levels of the Cradle Coast Authority and a wide range of external clients. The incumbent will need to utilise excellent interpersonal skills and diplomacy to ensure positive and productive relationships are established and maintained. Confidentiality and confidence in and of Cradle Coast Authority matters must be maintained. Effective time management is a significant challenge in this diverse and varied role. This role will also require travel within the region and state of Tasmania, including occasional overnight trips.
