Cradle Coast well represented in Tasmanian Tourism Awards

Around fifty representatives from the Cradle Coast tourism industry will attend the Tasmanian Tourism Awards in Hobart on Friday night in a proud show of support for the region’s entrants. The state Awards recognise outstanding achievement across all sectors of the tourism industry. The Cradle Coast Authority tourism team has coordinated the group’s attendance at this year’s event which is the largest delegation from the region to date and supporting a record number of Cradle Coast entrants. Many of the region’s representatives were themselves winners in the inaugural The Advocate Cradle Coast Regional Tourism Awards held in July and have gone on to become finalists in the state competition with the support of the Cradle Coast Authority and local industry. Finalists attending as part of the Cradle Coast contingent include representatives from Redwater Creek Steam and Heritage Society competing in both the Heritage and Cultural Tourism and Festivals and Events categories; the Devonport Visitor Centre in the Visitor Information Services category; Murrays Day Out in the Tour and Transport Operator Category; and the Stanley Cabin and Tourist Park in the Tourist and Caravan Parks category. Other Cradle Coast finalists include the Cable Station Restaurant and Accommodation, Corinna Wilderness Experience, Cradle Mountain Chateau, West Coast Wilderness Railway, Gordon River Cruises, The Wilderness Gallery and Piners and Miners. Regional Tourism Development Manager at the Cradle Coast Authority, Ian Waller, said that it was a proud group of operators attending the Awards and all were keen to show their support for each other and the region. “The Cradle Coast finalists have arranged to meet before the Awards and will arrive at the Wrest Point venue as a group – everyone will know we’re in town and that we are proud to be recognised among Tasmania’s best,” Mr Waller said. “The group’s shared support is a great mark of how unique we are as a region and it demonstrates the cooperative approach we’ve taken to these Awards. Of course, for Cradle Coast operators to win some categories would be a wonderful bonus.” The Tasmanian Tourism Award winners will be announced at a presentation ceremony at the Wrest Point Convention Centre in Hobart on the evening of Friday 12 November.
