MEDIA RELEASE 23 February 2010 Opportunity for local landholders to attend 2010 National Landcare Forum Applications opened today for sponsored attendance at the 2010 National Landcare Forum to be held in Adelaide from 23 to 25 March. The sponsorship provides up to five landholders or community volunteers in the Cradle Coast region with subsidised event registration, travel and accommodation costs (to the value of $700). This year’s Forum has the theme ‘Celebrate, communicate, invigorate’ in recognition of Landcare’s 20 year history. This initiative is supported by Cradle Coast Natural Resource Management through funding from the Australian Government Caring for our Country. The National Landcare Forum brings together landholders and managers, researchers, government bodies, Landcare and Coastcare members, agri-businesses and community volunteers from around Australia that are dedicated to natural resource management. Participants share ideas and hear of best practice developments in workshops, presentations, and in-field demonstrations. There will be networking opportunities at the Forum’s gala dinner and among displays of trade exhibitions. Cradle Coast NRM Land Coordinator, Anna Renkin, is pleased that the Australian Government is able to extend this opportunity to locals so that the Forum outcomes can be considered for use in the region. “The Landcare Forum allows you to hear from industry experts and collaborate on common issues that are faced by many land managers. The opportunity to do this in a single forum is really valuable,” Ms Renkin said. “We’re encouraging applications for sponsorship from as many different groups and areas within the region as possible.” The sponsorship is open to landholders, members of Landcare, Coastcare, Friends of groups and community volunteers who have contributed to Landcare activities in the Cradle Coast region. Application forms and eligibility criteria for sponsorship can be obtained from www.nrmtas.org/home.shtml and must be submitted by close of business on Tuesday 2nd March. End… Cradle Coast NRM works with community, industry, private enterprise and government to manage and improve our natural resources to ensure a healthy future for our region. Cradle Coast NRM is a committee of the Cradle Coast Authority. 2010 National Landcare Forum website: http://www.nationallandcareforum.com.au/ Media Contact/s: Anna Renkin Land Coordinator, Cradle Coast NRM Ph: 0429 166 949
