MEDIA RELEASE 19 July 2010 Adventurous photo shoot to capture the Tarkine Photographers and models representing Paddy Pallin adventure stores are visiting the Tarkine between 19 to 23 July for a series of photo shoots to feature in website and store catalogues and displays around Australia from September. The working visit is coordinated by Tourism Tasmania with on‐ground support from the Circular Head Tourism Association and will showcase the pristine Tarkine forest, beach and river scenes to adventure travelers on mainland Australia. Circular Head Tourism Marketing Officer, Jason Clare, and other locals including photographer Kraig Carlstrom and artistic director Kieran Bradley will be working with the Paddy Pallin team in the Tarkine region during their stay at Tall Timbers Tasmania and Corrina Wilderness Experience cottages. The proposed photo shoot locations include kayaking at Corrina, the fatman barge on the Pieman River, Lake Chisholm Forest Reserve bushwalking, and the Edge of the World at Marrawah. It’s the first time that Paddy Pallin has used the Tarkine as a base for a photo shoot, but Jason Clare is hopeful that this is the beginning of a new trend. “The Tarkine has such a variety of extraordinary natural landscapes, it is the perfect location for highlighting the benefits of packing camping and hiking gear and going exploring,” Mr Clare said. “We hope that by showcasing the Tarkine in this way, and directly to a market that is passionate about wilderness adventures, we’ll boost the national profile and visitor numbers to the region.” The Circular Head Tourism Association is an active member of the North West Coast Zone Marketing Group who actively pursues tourism promotion opportunities such as this with support from the Cradle Coast Authority. The Paddy Pallin visit is being undertaken with financial assistance from the State Government. The Paddy Pallin team will be flying into and out of Devonport and travelling to the Tarkine accompanied by Tourism Tasmania guide, Di Hollister.
