MEDIA RELEASE Campaign aims to boost region and reinforce long-term reputation with visitors A boost to marketing the North West and West to visitors is an opportunity to raise the profile of the two zones in other parts of Tasmania says the Cradle Coast Authority’s Regional Tourism Development Manager. Mr Ian Waller welcomed the $50,000 in funds announced today by Tourism Minister Scott Bacon. He said it was heartening that Tourism Tasmania had the confidence in the Authority to give it the funds and marketing opportunity. “This is not the magic wand to address all of our issues and should not be seen as that – it is however an opportunity to raise the profile of the North West Coast and Western Wilderness in other parts of Tasmania,” Mr Waller said. “We will be looking for an immediate response but we will also be hoping that this campaign will reinforce the region’s reputation and encourage Tasmanians to consider visiting at other times over the next twelve months. “The campaign, while yet to be finalised, will be initially targeted to the Tasmanian market but then expect flow on to the inter-state markets through significant online components. We will use all means to reach all Tasmanians and present to them a variety of local two and three day packages that provide outstanding experiences within our region embracing accommodation and activities. “The program will be designed to encourage operators of all sizes to participate and will create an opportunity for operators whose product is not yet available online to test this marketing option.” The campaign will be developed and delivered with the support of Tourism Tasmania and the North West Coast and Western Wilderness zone marketing groups.
