New websites raise the region’s profile

Tourists can be inspired by what’s on offer and plan all aspects of a visit to the North West Coast and Western Wilderness of Tasmania thanks to two new websites launched by the Cradle Coast Authority and the tourism Zone Marketing Groups.

The websites at www.tasmaniasnorthwest.com.au and www.tasmaniaswesternwilderness.com.au reinforce Tourism Tasmania’s regional zone promotions and can also be accessed from the State’s Discover Tasmania destinations web pages. Tourism Tasmania have been promoting the sites via their Facebook pages and promotional blogs, and direct promotion of the new websites has also been made to more than 8,000 subscribers of the North West Coast and Western Wilderness Enews newsletters.

The sites contain information on accommodation, things to see and do, destination information, competitions and the ability to download brochures. Tourism operators who feature in the printed version of the region’s Visitor Guides and Holiday Planners are listed on the two new sites. Links from the sites allow readers to directly connect with local tourism operators to see additional details and to make bookings.

Content for the new sites was also sourced directly from the many Visitor Information Centres in the region and was collated by the two Zone Marketing Groups. The refresh process took five months and was implemented by local businesses 41 Degree South and Jackie Merchant designs.

Tourism Marketing Officer at the Cradle Coast Authority and project coordinator, Kylie Scolyer, was happy to see the sites move from concepts to a reality this month. “It’s been satisfying to work across the tourism industry and have such collaboration reflected in these websites,” Ms Scolyer said. “The new sites reinforce the look, feel and the content of the printed guides and it’s a very consistent and professional image.” “With an increasing number of people making holiday plans online it was important for us to provide detailed information that was still easy to navigate. The ‘where will the stories take you’ brand has also been incorporated into the sites, prompting consumers to share their own personal stories from their trip to the region.” Ms Scolyer said. Ms Scolyer is encouraging local operators to link their own websites to the new North West Coast and Western Wilderness pages. Tourism operators who would like to find out about cross‐promotion opportunities are welcome to contact Kylie Scolyer or Don Monk at the Cradle Coast Authority on 6431 6285.

End… Cradle Coast tourism works with the tourism and associated industries, councils, state government and visitor centres to create a regional tourism sector that delivers economic, social and environmental benefits to the Cradle Coast. Cradle Coast tourism is a unit of the Cradle Coast Authority.
