MEDIA RELEASE Tasmania well represented on national tourism body by Cradle Coast Regional Tourism Manager Tasmania will be well represented on the Board of the Australian Regional Tourism Network with the recent appointment of Cradle Coast Regional Tourism Manager, Ian Waller. Appointed last week to the 13-member prestigious national Network, Mr Waller is the only industry-based Tasmanian representative, and joins Tourism Tasmania’s Head of Insights and Destinations, Deb Lewis. “This wonderful opportunity means I can give a strong voice to the interests of Tasmanian tourism on a national scale, but I can also bring the best ideas back home to this State,” Mr Waller said. With more than 30 years in the tourism industry, including time spent managing his own region based tourism businesses, Mr Waller has been the Cradle Coast Regional Tourism Manager for seven-years. The Network conducts the annual Australian Tourism Conference, which was held last week in Alice Springs, and is the key liaison between the Australian Tourism Minister, national funding agencies, and the tourism industry in regional Australia. Cradle Coast Authority Executive Chairman, Roger Jaensch, said Mr Waller would be a great ambassador in his new role, and would take a broad set of skills and wealth of experience to the Network’s table. “Ian is passionate about Tasmania, having been raised in Ulverstone, but has worked in tourism on the mainland and understands the issues – this appointment means Tasmania and our region are well represented on a national scale,” Mr Jaensch said.
