MEDIA RELEASE Cradle Coast Authority urges producer’s to attend fledgling North West Producers’ Network gathering Friday, May 8, 2009 The link between food and beverage production excellence and visitor attraction to the region is the theme of a meeting of the fledgling North West Food and Beverage Producers’ Network (the Network) to be held in Ulverstone Monday afternoon. Urging all types of food producers from across the region to attend, Cradle Coast Authority’s Regional Tourism Manager Ian Waller said the group aimed to develop high value, regionally based visitor experiences based on the excellent standard of produce across the region. Largely made up of primary producers, users of regional primary produce and associated businesses including restaurants and tour operators, Mr Waller said the Network would also strive to increase demand for local produce from existing and expanding markets. “The Network will also pursue the development of high value produce and products that maintain strong levels of recognition within selected target markets,” he said. “The Network wants to work on ensuring regional products are acknowledged for their quality and diversity so that their reputation leads to greater awareness and demand for regional produce. “ This means that the produce, in turn, becomes a key driver in attracting visitors to the North West”. The inaugural meeting will include a presentation by local businessman Mr Nigel Squibb, who will outline opportunities for North West producers with his “Tasmania House” concept. Those who attend will also be provided with an update on how the region’s people and produce may go under the microscope in television program segments including “Mercurio’s Menu” and “The Guide to the Good Life”. Bookings are essential for catering purposes and can be made through Kim Robinson kim@advantagegroupoz.com or BH 03 64249300 or AH 0409 839919.
