“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” Isaiah 54:10 Mission Without Borders Australia P| 02 9647 2022 E| australia@mwbi.org www.mwb.org.au

UKRAINE NEEDS OUR PRAYERS Events in Ukraine are changing daily. Everyone at Mission Without Borders is overwhelmed by the devastating news. With the loss of many lives in the confrontations at Kiev’s Maidan (Independence Square), and violent clashes in other locations, Ukraine is paying a high price. Many fear the country is now entering its most difficult time since independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.The last thing anyone ever expected was to be threatened by their own ‘friendly neighbour’ and ‘brother-nation’. Ever since Russia occupied Crimea, Ukrainians are fearful. The whole nation of Ukraine is in a state of shock and despair over these events. As a result our Staff and Field Workers at MWB are also seeing a revival of faith.

All Christians, all churches are praying for peace!

“If you came to Rivne today, or any other Ukrainian city, you would probably be surprised to see that life is calm and everything is going as usual: Children are going to school and kindergarten; shops are open; people are working. But there is a sense of deep concern in the air. Ukraine’s situation is now critical.

Mykhaylo Illyuk, Rivne Baptist Deputy Bishop:

It is noteworthy that in many of Ukraine’s town squares we are seeing massive joint prayer meetings where members from different denominations get together for special prayer. Yesterday such a night of prayer was held in Sarny (where MWB has a lot of programs). It’s really encouraging to see that in the face of danger, Christian denominations demonstrate the spirit of unity!” Family coordinator, Maksym, in Rivne:

“It’s the first time we have ever worked in such circumstances when many people are shocked and terrified, worrying about their future so much. We try to Mykola Bogdanets, reassure our beneficiaries, and find that many are now MWB’s Ukraine keen to talk about salvation and renewing their Manager, writing from our MWB office in Rivine, relationship with God. Often families also want to pray together during our visits.” in the north of Ukraine:

“Church life has changed: More people are coming to church to hear God’s Word; they pray more earnestly and are willing to fast. People have formed prayer chains and get together with other families even for nightly vigils.”

Through your prayers and thoughts for the people of Ukraine, many of you have contacted us asking how you can help, financially and through Gift in Kind donations. Unfortunately we cannot send money directly to benefit those affected by this crisis, as donations we receive are distributed equally to all the six countries that we support. With customs also in turmoil, it is near impossible to get donations of warm items and knitted clothing into the country. The best way we can provide aid and support to the people of Ukraine is through our CRI (Child Rescue International) and F2F (Family to Family) sponsorship programs. By sponsoring a Child or Family in Ukraine, your donations will directly go to supporting their individual physical, emotional and spiritual needs during this time of desperation and crisis. We have listed some families and children who are in urgent need of sponsorship in Ukraine. If you have been lead by the Lord to offer your support, then consider and pray about sponsoring a family or a child. Your help today is very much needed to bring hope for tomorrow.

Tetyana has temporary work on a farm and earns approximately $220 AUD per month. The family doesn't attend church or have any knowledge about God and His love for them.
