Faith On Every Corner - April 2022
Spring Awakening By John Alexander
With everything going on around the world, take time to take in the miracle of spring, especially this year. The changing of the seasons reminds us that nothing lasts forever, and this too will pass. Take time to take in the grandeur of God’s creation and remind us that God is in control. I pray the poems I share this month warm your heart.

Seasons
Another winter’s end is near.
Another spring is almost here.
I hear birds singing in the trees.
I see them soaring on the breeze.
The flowers push up through the ground.
From dormant bulbs, new life is found.
The seasons come, the seasons go,
So much to learn, so much to know.
Life’s more than just four seasons long.
Each stage of life can birth a song.
The words mature with each new spring;
Bring forth new songs that I can sing.
I pray each year I grow more wise,
See with my heart, not just my eyes.
Lord, give me strength and words to write
That shine through darkness, spread Your light.
Another Spring
The doves still coo and build their nest.
I still arise from evening’s rest.
You’ve granted me another day,
I pray you’re pleased by what I say.
Another spring the flowers bloom.
They have no need to dress or groom.
They’re beautiful the way they’re made,
Some need the sun; some thrive in shade.
I look around; I see it all,
The things you’ve made both large and small.
I’m grateful, Lord, that you’re in charge,
There’s nothing, Lord, for you too large.
The flowers bloom, the birds still sing,
I’ll shed my cares, let praises ring.
I lift my voice to You on high,
Release my rhymes into the sky. .
Nature’s Refrain
Sometimes I’m too focused on details each day,
That I fail to see the grandeur that
God sends my way.
When I cast my eyes downward, I easily fail
To see all the beauty that’s there on life’s trail.
It’s easy to fill up my life with the small.
There’s no time to take in creation at all.
There’s beauty around me that I fail to see,
If I’m only turned inward and focused on me.
It soon will be springtime with flowers galore.
The hills fill with color and fragrance once more,
Then warm summer evenings with stars overhead.
I know the creator, I’ve nothing to dread.
I pray I can focus beyond the mundane,
Perhaps hear the music of nature’s refrain.
God’s in every detail, He made all I can see.
I’m only a speck, yet God cares about me.
