Forthcoming Musical Events
We are entering a very busy but exciting time for our young musicians, so here is a summary of the forthcoming events for this term:
Senior House Music Competition: Friday 7th February 2.45pm
This year, each house has prepared a hymn. All senior pupils should now be learning their lyrics so that they can perform by memory.
Cranmore Live featuring VoCollective: Thursday 13th February
All Cranmore choirs will be taking part in workshops throughout the day and the senior choirs will sing with VoCollective in the evening concert. Tickets for the 7pm concert are selling well, but some do remain. Ticket restrictions have now been lifted and parents can buy these from the Ticket Source website.
Godalming Festival: Choral Tuesday 3rd March (times tbc) and Instrumental Tuesday 17th March (times tbc)
The Junior and Senior Chamber Choirs will perform in the choral section of this year’s competition. We have also entered a large number of instrumental groups for the festival this year: Orchestra, Wind Band, Chamber Strings, Brass Group, Clarinet Choir and Saxophone Group. Pupils should wear their bow tie or hair bow for this event.
The Cranmore Senior Spring Soirée: Thursday 19th March 7-8pm
All senior choirs and instrumental ensembles will perform in this concert. Pupils should wear their bow tie or hair bow for this event.
ABRSM Practical Music Exams: Monday 23rd March (schedule to be announced)
The Guildford Institute: Tuesday 24th March 6.30pm
Members of C# and selected drama pupils will perform at this event and C# should wear their C# tie.

Year 3 had great fun in their Ukulele lesson with Mrs Thornton this week.
Congratulations to these excellent young pianists, who both played an Etude in A Minor during Assembly, one written by the composer Farrenc, the other by Schytte.

A number of excellent performers performed in the Junior Music Assembly this week. A special thank you to Sam Barklam for showing the Juniors the French Horn. Well done to all!
Please speak to Mrs Thornton if your child would like to learn a musical instrument.
