WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP/MICROPIGMENTATION

Permanent makeup is a cosmetic tattooing technique, which deposits minute, individual implants of pigment into the top layer of the skin, called the ‘dermis’. It is used to create stunning eyebrows, beautifully shaped lips and perfectly defined eyes. Permanent make-up can also be used for the treatment of medical and cosmetic reconstruction and enhancement, providing the finishing touch to reconstructive breast surgery. *Please note that women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are not suitable for permanent makeup treatments.*

YOUR TREATMENT

Allow two hours for your treatment, an hour for a detailed consultation where we will discuss your expectations, also explain what can and cannot be achieved to ensure you are fully informed throughout. As a trained makeup artist you will be advised on pigment and a look best suited to you. A shape and colour will then be agreed. We endeavour to keep you as comfortable as possible throughout your treatment, you should only feel a slight vibration and scratching sensation. Before and after photos will be taken to clearly show the progression and outcome of the treatment. You will be required under the terms of our insurance to make a medical declaration of general health and to give us permission to perform the treatment on your behalf. Please note that certain factors, which give your skin its unique characteristics, can have an impact on the finished result of your permanent makeup:

• • •

Acceptance of the pigment to your skin type. Scar tissue resistance Application of topical anaesthetic may be less effective on some skin types.

HOW LONG WILL MY PERMAMNENT MAKEUP LAST?

The majority of our clients require two initial permanent make-up treatments after which one maintenance treatment is required at least annually to ensure that the makeup stays fresh and looking fabulous.

WHAT FACTORS MAY AFFECT THE RESULTS?

The result of pigment implantation is partially determined by variations in the skin type and can sometimes be affected by the following: • Medication • Natural skin overtones • Skin characteristics (Dryness, oil, sun damage, thickness & colour) • pH balance of the skin (acidity) • Scarring from previous surgery

Please carefully read our terms and conditions prior to booking your treatment. Please be prepared for the colour intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after your treatment. This will subside and gradually become lighter as the skin heals. This period is dependant on the clients individual skin type.

ADVICE FOR ALL PERMANENT COSMETIC PROCEDURES •

• •

Please wear your normal makeup to the clinic on the day of your treatment. This is to see how you present yourself on a daily basis and to design a natural look that you will be comfortable and happy with. Avoid aspirin or ibuprofen for two days before your treatment, as this can make your skin more prone to bruising. (Please disregard this if you are on aspirin under your GP’s advice) Do not discontinue any medication before first consulting your GP. Please limit your alcohol intake the night before your treatment. A patch test will be performed, unless waived upon request. A signature will be required to validate this. There will sometimes be slight swelling and redness following treatment, but not always.

EYELINER PROCEDURES •

• •

• •

Please do not wear any kind of permanent eyelash extensions upon arrival. Any eyelash tinting or perming should be carried out two weeks following your treatment or at least a week before if desired. Do NOT wear contact lenses during or immediately after your treatment. Please remember to bring your glasses with you. You may resume wearing contact lenses as soon as your eyes feel comfortable. (This is usually 24 hours after the procedure) You may have some swelling and feel that you would like someone else to drive you home, although this is not necessary for everyone.

LIP CONTOURING & RESHAPING •

PRE PROCEDURAL ADVICE

Permanent cosmetic procedures normally require two treatment sessions. For optimum results, clients are required to return for their retouch treatment between two to twelve weeks following their initial procedure. *Please note that your second visit must be booked and undertaken within the twelve week period. *

Lip waxing or bleaching treatments should NOT be carried out for at least two weeks following your permanent cosmetic treatment. Permanent cosmetic treatments do NOT cause cold sores, however, if you carry the virus, please be aware that it lays dormant in the body and can be aroused by sunlight, stress and permanent lip make-up. If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex) we advise that you contact your GP to obtain the appropriate prescription medication to prevent such outbreaks. Alternatively, you can purchase some herpes medication, for example ‘Zovirax’, from your chemist. Apply this daily for one week before and one week after your treatment. This can help minimise the risk of an outbreak.

It is advisable to book your FREE retouch appointment at the time of your initial treatment booking, to ensure that your treatment plan is firmly in place.

POST TREATMENT ADVICE AND INSTRUCTIONS INFORMATION IN THE HEALING PERIOD

Flaking, Redness, Tenderness, Dryness, Aching, Swelling

Please note that 2 – 5 days after any permanent makeup procedure, the treatment area may exhibit the following:

Additionally, for eye procedures, eyelashes may stick together and the eyelid can appear red and swollen. Your permanent makeup procedure can be affected if you suffer from any medical conditions as discussed during your consultation. This will inevitably slow down prominently. However, it is unlikely that these symptoms will prohibit you to go about your normal activities the following day.

• •

Do not expose the treated area to extreme heat or cold until the healing process is complete. This includes avoiding sunbathing, tanning beds, saunas and other practices which expose the skin to extreme temperatures. Avoid using conventional makeup for at least 3 days following any permanent makeup treatment; please use a brand new mascara. Do not pick, scratch or rub the area, which was treated. Tampering with the treated area will result in infections and a delay in the healing process, which may even cause scarring. Use a sunscreen or moisturiser with an SPF of 15 or over.

Please include the following in your daily routine for a minimum of 7 days following your permanent makeup treatment:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Apply the provided moisturising balm to the treated area, except for eye treatments, at least 2 times per day using clean cottons buds. Thoroughly wash your hands before and after application and always use a clean cotton bud each time to avoid infections. Use a gentle facial cleanser without alcohol content and avoid the treatment area(s). If the treatment area gets wet, pat dry very gently with a clean towel or tissue. Use saline for bathing eyes only. DO NOT RUB THE AREA(S).

ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS •

If you have ever had cold sores in the past, it is strongly recommended that you use your medication (e.g. Zovirax) 7 days before and after lip treatments. This will help to prevent further complications such as an outbreak of herpes and to minimise any discomfort.

If you are planning on having an MRI scan, chemical peel or any other medical or cosmetic procedures, please inform your practitioner that you have undergone permanent makeup treatment, If you want to give blood following your permanent make-up treatment, you will not be eligible for donation a year after the procedure.

GENERAL POST PROCEDURE INFORMATION

In order to keep your permanent makeup in good condition and looking fabulous, it is necessary to have a re-touch every 6 – 24 months. With all new permanent makeup treatments, it is recommended that you wash the area gently 3 – 4 hours post procedure, including the eyes to remove any seepage from the area.

Please be aware that the colour following a permanent makeup procedure is 50% darker immediately after treatment. The colour will fade after 4-7 days and the final ‘Healed’ colour will not be visible for up to 4 weeks following your initial treatment.
