DJ Darryn Mc Callion is a name you our sure to hear. Only at a young age of 21 he has been warming up for some of the worlds talented DJS with the likes of Scot Bond, Guy Ornadel, Gabriel and Dresden, John O Callaghan, Greg Downey, Fred Baker, and more around the north and abroad. As the summer approaches Darryn has been getting booked to play at various dance events across the globe with gigs in Ibiza, southern Ireland, Spain and one of the UKS well known clubs the Honey Club in Brighton. Recently he has been known to produce a track along side one of his most inspirational DJs Liam Melly which has been called Homegrown after there club night that the two of these DJS can be seen playing at in the maiden city of the north, Derry, every month along side other top class acts from Ireland with the likes of Bryan Kearney, Paul Webster, Neal Scarborough and lots more. The last two summers was a big success for Derry based DJ Darryn Mc Callion as he took his turntable skills to the White Isle Ibiza to play at some of the Isle largest parties in association with Ibizan heat, Frantic, Bionic And Breath, Lock And Load, Pukka up and lots more. Do you prefer playing in clubs or at festivals like Giant’s Park? I’ve always got this theory that people get excited in nightclubs but when we do it outdoors in a beautiful park or on a beach people just go that little bit crazier.

How are you preparing for the show? I’m working on edits of tunes that I’m going to play and getting the visuals script written. At the moment that’s my main thing, searching out what records I’m going to be playing over the summer and writing and filming video scripts and writing lighting scripts.

What can fans expect on the day? Fans can expect a huge outdoor dance party with as much visual entertainment as we are allowed. I can’t promise fireworks but everything we are allowed to do we will. I’m really looking forward to it!

Any advice for the party-goers? I think they should probably bring a change of clothes because I’ve seen what sort of states they get into [laughs]. But no, there’s nothing I can tell Irish Crowds about how to behave - just keep on doing exactly what you do!

And finally, what does the future hold for Norman Cook and Fatboy Slim? I’ve just had another baby so Norman Cook is a proper family man now… but then Fatboy Slim will always put on a Hawaiian shirt and run off and have fun round the world!

The competition is judged by the audience always, rather than a panel of old people that have no comprehension of the philosophy..We pride ourselves on running a grass roots level event that is FREE to enter!
