Centerless Grinding Centerless-Grinding is a mechanical process involves a special cutting called abrasive-cutting. The motto of this process is eradicating material from a work-piece. It is different from Centered-Grinding as it does not use any spindle or fixture to remove the work-piece. In this process, a work-piece is secured between two rotary grinding wheels. The speed of each wheel determines the same speed rate on which a particular work-piece removes.


Procedure Of Center Less Grinding • In center-less-grinding, a work-piece is held between two wheels. They rotate in the same direction following different speed. The work-piece is held on a work holding platform. And one of the wheels which are known as the grinding wheel is on a fixed axis. This grinding wheel rotates in a great speed applying force on the work-piece. It puts force in a manner directed downward against the working platform. This wheel is usually used for grinding the work-piece. It has a higher speed than the work-piece at the point of contact.

• The other wheel also known as the regulating wheel is movable. This regulating wheel positioned in such a way so that it can apply lateral pressure to the workpiece. And usually, it has a very rough or similar kind of abrasive to trap the work-piece.

Through-Feed- In through-feed centerless-grinding, the Work-piece completely fed through the grinding wheels. It enters on one side and exiting on the opposite. End-Feed- In end-feed centerless grinding, the work-piece is put into the machine. It is placed on the side and it comes to rest against an end stop where the grinding operation continues. And then the work-piece is put in the opposite direction to exit the machine.

In-Feed- This type of centerless grinding is used where the work-pieces are complex in shape. This type of grinding is particularly used when it is necessary to grind the parts of the work-pieces.
