Requirements for the Doctor of Ministry degree can be met within three years of enrollment. The degree requires the completion of eight (8) courses with residencies. These courses are normally completed over the first two years of the program, followed by a third year devoted to a final mentored course resulting in a written thesis. Students may extend the program requirements over a longer time period, provided all requirements are met within six years of enrollment.

Academic Requirement: A master’s degree with a superior level of academic accomplishment and a substantial foundation in biblical studies, theological studies, and the practice of ministry is required for admission into the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) program. A Master of Divinity degree with at least a 3.0 average based on a 4.0 scale fulfills this requirement. Other graduate theological degrees providing this basic foundation for the practice of ministry and doctoral level study may be considered. If you hold a graduate theological degree other than a Master of Divinity, you should contact the admissions office for an assessment prior to making an application.

D.Min. in Transformative Leadership The D.Min. in Transformative Leadership offers experienced clergy and lay practitioners an opportunity to develop their leadership in concert with the historical values and traditions of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, as those values and traditions set forth visions for the future. Integrative and interdisciplinary courses provide leaders the opportunity to strengthen their biblical and theological grounding for leadership; to reflect on their leadership with reference to solidarity with persons who are poor, oppressed and marginalized; and to explore critical social issues that are the contemporary versions of the historical social and religious movements of Rochester and Western New York: evangelical revival, abolition of slavery and racism, and women’s suffrage and equality.
Ministry Requirement: Admission to the D.Min. program requires three years of substantial ministry experience subsequent to the first graduate theological degree. This need not be paid experience nor does it need to be work in a church setting. Substantial volunteer work and work done in social service and health care agencies may be considered as an exception to admissions standards. If you have questions regarding the suitability of your experience as a basis for admission, please contact the admissions office for an assessment prior to making an application.

D.Min. in Transformative Leadership with a concentration in Prophetic Preaching In our postmodern world, the pulpit can either be surrendered as a relic of a bygone era or powerfully reclaimed as a locus of renewed and faithful proclamation for a life-giving future. This D.Min. concentration engages the latter choice by offering experienced clergy and lay practitioners an opportunity to hone the art of preaching in response to the unique homiletical challenges of the early 21st century.
3
D.Min. in Transformative Leadership with a concentration in Wesleyan/Methodist Studies Building upon its long standing service and relationship with the United Methodist Church, CRCDS developed this D.Min. concentration to meet the needs of Methodist and Wesleyan clergy who desire to learn more about Wesleyan/Methodist history, theology, and spirituality. In addition to the core requirements in Transformative Leadership, the concentration requires a minimum of three Wesleyan/ Methodist Studies courses and writing a thesis in the area of Wesleyan/Methodist Studies. Courses will be taught by leading national scholars in the area of Wesleyan and Methodist Studies in addition to CRCDS core faculty members.
