Creative Action uses the arts as a medium to inspire creativity, unlock potential, and transform the lives of students of all ages. Color Squad is a collective of teen artists who work together to design and implement public and community art. Each year, we explore a theme that is important to our community, research that theme through a series of workshops and interactions, Color Squad is a program of Creative Action.
Our 19 members of Color Squad present Care and Keeping of the Mind, a collection of healing practices from our teens and the wider community in Austin. The theme for our work this year is Mental Health, a topic that has had heightened awareness throughout the pandemic. Our teens wanted to share various ways that folks can heal, in addition to sharing local resources in Austin that provide free to low-cost services for healing. We take away a few of these strategies for yourself.
Thank you so much for supporting Color Squad, we hope you have a wonderful day!

Without a doubt, the myriad of challenges brought by COVID have left their mark, which has only been compounded by the pandemic’s effect on our mental health. These circumstances, as well as high rates of mental illness among our generation have inspired the creation of this zine. We hope that our healing practices have inspired you to take your self-care into your own hands. You deserve to have time to relax and care for yourself as much as you can. Thank you for reading our zine and being a part of this project! Love, Color Squad
